new 02 two sensors on 95 cali emiss running high rpms

hi there we havea 95 4runner sr5 3.0l 4x4 cali emissions. I replaced the cat and muffle and 02 sensors . the exhaust was a mess before the 02 sensors were just loose rattling around in there running a slight high idle. so I use the denso 02 for upstream(on down pipe) I used the 234-4052 and downstream 234-4161 ( near muffler) so we have been running it for about 15 minutes it was at 2k rpm down to 1500 rpm but is not falling below that. we have not driven it yet because its on blocks doing some other work. the battery was disconnected to clear things. any ideas?

Maybe adjust the idle speed....i can't tell you how to on the3.0 but im sure the handy dandy search bar can
:hiding:

ok well we drove it around the block several times and let it idle for 30 minutes in driveway . its still running at about 1600rpms comes down to 1000rpms when I put in gear ..... any updates or ideas?

for the upstream o2 sensor I got the Toyota 89465-35260 which is comparable to the denso 234-4052 which I installed on the downpipe before the cat. near the muffler I have the denso 234-4161 . im looking on the denso website I have to call them tomorrow because they have 2 upstream options which would be the 234-4050. so could the upstream be wrong...........? if its right then im still in high idle issue

Hey so I wasn't able to go the shop at lunch like I had planned because my boss had to leave but im going to try and stop by after work and see what he has to say about something on my car and ill see if he has seen your problem

I would check the following:
1) timing
2) fuel pressures (rest and running)
3) t-stat (if it is failing open, it will hold it in the cold idle circuit for a long time).
4) vacuum leak (secondary crankcase vent system, intake, etc)
If the above mentioned items check out, the idle screw could have backed out.
regards

Hey so my mechanic just said that its hard to tell without it throwing a code. But he sai that if he were in your position he would try the other sensors. Are the sensors oem?

There is a big flat head screw driver screw near top of throttle body front side as you look at it. That is the idle adjuster screw. Turn in to slow the idle. If you recently had the plenom off, I would be looking at vacuum hose routeing. Its so easy to re-attach them incorrectly. Clean the modulator filter next to EGR valve, the top cap comes off and it may be full of carbon. Pull the Big snorkle tube so you can look in throttle body, and look in there for carbon or grit holding the throttle plate open. Use tooth brush & CRC throttle body cleaner and paper towel. Don't get fluid on TPS as its sensitive, so only use TB cleaner. A dirty air filter can make it run rich (fast).

x2 on the vacuum leak check. I had a nice amount of air getting past my AFM(air flow meter) on my 95.

I also found a throttle body bolt 80% backed out. And when I went to fix it I broke my stock intake boot in half. Luckily I had planned on replacing it and had the necessary parts to fix it. After I replaced all the leaks thus far my normal warmed up idle dropped from 1000 to 600. I was concerned at first but the motor seems to be running better than ever. Here is a pic of what I came up with. Basically I removed all of the resonators. Its not done yet I just had to get it together to get to work

Might I add that I have only had this truck since July and have just not started going through it looking for problems. Every time I fix one thing I find a new problem. Which is fine because that means my t4r will only get better in time.

ok over the weekend ill be back on it . this little gem only has 47k on it . the top end(engine area is flawless. but it was plowed with and the salt has killed the underneath .. I still have to check all the hoses and piping and everything to see what is going on but my exhaust is tight it looks like something else is the issue. be on call gents as I might need a response over the weekend lol j/k

also can someone tell me if the denso 234-4050 and the 234-4052 are the same for upstream? I cant find denso tech or any number to contact them its all email ..
they list 4 different upstreams but they both do cali and non cali. so why different part numbers? I see universal and oem as the difference mainly but any thing else? why would they have two univerasal with different part numbers is my issue

still high idle what else if vacuum lines and o2 sensors are good ?........ I know this car does a high idle when cold and calms down but can whatever mech that is be bad?
