New 2020 Jeep Mohave = junk

New Jeep, same problems. Bad transmission from factory. Horrible ride. Squeaks and rattles all over the cabin. Under powered V6 that gets 15mpg.
All of this for $59k.
I have friends that buy these and poor money into them to try and look cool so they can take the doors and top off to drive kids to soccer.
They tell me I don’t understand, it’s a Jeep thing. Well your right I don’t understand why anyone buys a wrangler based vehicle for a daily driver. Weekend off road toy, maybe.

I dunno, my 2012 JK is rolling along just fine almost 10 years later. Granted it's a slightly different vehicle than a JL/JT but not by much. It has its purpose, as does my T4R. I consider myself lucky that I get to own both.

Then again, the prices for what you get these days are nuts. Mine, fully decked out Rubicon with leather and everything was only $35.5k when I ordered it new and built to my specs. I certainly don't think it would have been worth paying $60k for.

So is this your jeep that has all the issues? I’m surprised the mohave edition rides rough, I thought that one was supposed to be sprung a little softer for sand dune duty. I’m not surprised by any thing else though. I’ve never been a fan of FCAs V6 engines or transmissions. That new 392 wrangler does interest me but holy hell it’s expensive!

Jeeps in general ride rough. I have had both a JK and the old Cherokee (same running gear as the Wrangler) and both were rough. I have also rented Jeeps from time to time as well.

My 4Runner has so much better ride.

My dad recently bought the 21 Gladiator Mojave. It’s a really nice package for running fast in the desert, it has twin Fox shocks with reservoirs but only rear lockers and no sway bar disconnect. I guess we shall see if he has any issues.

That's awesome that you have both. I would hold on to both forever

To me, that's an oxymoron. A solid front axle for anything but hardcore offroading?

I test drove a brand new 4XE and the steering above 40mph was ridiculous. Felt like the shakiest thing ever. No thanks.

I'd get the new Wrangle/Rubicon only to get that V8. I'm not a Gladiator fan since I need more interior room and I'd have to put 37s on that to get a decent breakover angle. I bet it looks pretty cool with 37s too. The stock V6 is not great (though not that much worse than the anemic V6 in the 4R) but the diesel and V8 are interesting, at least in the Wranglers.

My 2014 is on 35s and is relatively quiet and smooth, though not as smooth as the stock setup on rougher pavement. I really only have it for off-roading though with a toddler, I have done no off-roading in 2-3 years. If this trend continues, I'll trade it for a Sequoia or LC, especially if they ever offer a hybrid motor.
