New 3rd Gen Owner. Looking for recommendations...

Hi All,

I recently bought a single owner '99 4runner Limited. It's a nice, fully stock truck that I'm looking to do some upgrading too. A couple questions:

1) Do the BIGGER Tundra brakes fit under the stock 16" wheels? Are Tundra brakes are worthwhile mod? I got a brake shimmy so a brake job is coming soon.

2) The dreaded PINK milkshake. Is there any way to check for this without doing a trans fluid change?

3) What's the best modification you've done and why?

As a little background, I live in an area that gets meters of snow. I'm looking to improve handling in inclement weather mostly. Looking to do some light off-roading too.

Hi I am originally from New York and have always wanted to get into the 4 runner scene and joined the military recently so I am in Texas right now trying to find some beautiful 4 runners with no rust and I have really found the one it is a 97 sr5 4x4 no e locker with 163000 miles its real 1 owner with a crystal clean car fax and timing belt and water pump has been done on time the dealer is looking for 5250 and would like to ask if i would be overpaying for this beauty or not please respond!

Hello! I used to have a 3rd gen Limited (2000 with 201k), but upgraded to a '15 Limited.

As for the Fitment of the tundra brakes with the 16" wheels, it depends on what wheels you have. there is a forum that discusses which will fit, which won't. i think there are only a few 16" wheels that will fit.

i also live in an area that gets a lot of snow, and i drove through 15" of fresh powder in a stock truck. i was honestly amazed by how well that truck handled the snow (just need a good set of tires).

As for a lift for mild off roading, i was planning on installing Bilstein 6112/5100 for a 2" lift overall, but sold the truck before i was able to install. I still have everything new in boxes too for sale.
