New 4Runner Lift / Tire / Wheel setup

First post! I just got my 4Runner last week and I can't wait to get going on modding it out. Its a 2005 Black SR5 with limo tint all around, sunroof, heated seats, and leather. Its a pretty nice 4runner.

Lift - First things first, The Daystar 2.5/ 1.5 spacer lift seems to be the lift I'm looking for for the price to eliminate the rake and give it a little more clearance. The lift is on its way. So from I have a couple of questions for you all. I know this might boil down to personal preference but fire away.

Wheels - I got the 4Runner and afterward I realized something kind of unique to it from other 4r's i've been checking out - mine has 16" wheels. I've seen a few pictures out there of guys rockin the 16s but is that a major drawback? Should I swap them out for 17s?

Tires - I have a 265/70/16 on there right now... pretty much a generic brand tire that the person slapped on. I'm assuming they just facotry size for my wheel size. They have a lot of tread left but are they going to look weird with the lift? I want to get the Duratrac 265/75/16s when my lift is on and if i keep the 16" wheel. Thoughts on if I should swap the tires out?

Accessories - budget-wise, what are the first accessories i should grab? I just got the yakima fat cat 6 snowboard and ski rack. Pretty sweet.

17s are used to clear larger brake calipers, since u dont need them, id stay with 16s. tires are a personal choice, if u like the duratrac, go with it, just dont go taller than 32 & you'll be fine with that lift. if ur looking for something worth while to do, think about upgrading the interior lights to led, get HIR bulbs for the headlights (if u dont want HIDs)
 
Why the heavy tint? It's a must here in the Sunshine State. Just curious.

I would suggest OME lift. I started with a spacer lift back in 04 then to OME HD rear springs in 06 for haluling and just replaced my front spacer with OME stuff this past spring. Wish I had gone OME from the get.
 
Thanks for tips. The front tint is a little lighter than the back but not much... I'm not sure on the rating of the tint but I love it. I've always had heavy tint on my cars. Not so much for the outside look... when i close up the windows and sunroof i feel i'm in a private room... just a personal pref.

I noticed the the OME lieft was pretty popular going through the forum but the Daystar 2.5/1.5 lift is only going to cost me $250 - $300 installed so I thought I'd give it a try and see how I liked it.

Where is a good place to get the LED interior lights? I saw pictures of that and I love the white look. I'm sure I just have to look, but do you have a link on how to install them? I'm also loving the HID light swap out

I'm leaning towards just running my current tires down as they are in great shape but maybe I can sell them soon and swap them out for some 32s. And as far as Duratracs go, what are the pros and cons of the C and E tire rating?

I'll take some before and after pictures of my runner with the 16s onve I get working on it next week. I thought that would have been really useful as there aren't many 4th gen 4r's out there with 16s on them.

Some other mods i'm thinking about... tell me what your thoughts are:
-Powder coating wheels dark grey... not sure on this yet
-Clear Bra
-Brush guard (nothing too beefy or intense. suggestions?)
-Replacing factory cd deck with nav system (suggestions?)
-Bug-shielding hood, windows, and sunroof

Interior dome light LEDs would be nice but i'm thinking of doing a few other things first... Swapping out the stock halogens for HIRs would be sweet. My other car is a Lexus IS 300 and I have those in that car with yellow fogs. Love em!!

Right now is the debate of whether or not I want to drop a grand putting on 32s once i get my daystar lift on... decisions decisions... I'm thinking that once I do the lift and I see it stock tires I'll be at the tire shop within a day getting my 32s. haha. Thanks for the input though. So next on the list is getting the lift installed, tires, and then HIRS. I'll probably get bug deflectors and a navi deck sooner or later to swap out the factory cd deck...

I just got the 4Runner last week and I'm already beginning to realize that modding it going to be a lifelong thing with it. haha
 
Just went with the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors today. 255/75r17 from tire rack. Including certs came to $750. Happy as a pig in poop. You know, I'm getting old when the lift tones down to Daystar and tires only go to a 32 inch. Sheaz. The good, they come with a 50K warranty and ride very smooth.

I'd go with the Daystar
Get some Spidertrax spacers
Get a 32 inch tire (not sure of the size with a 16 inch rim.
Then smile away. Next for me is a Pioneer DVD head unit.

FYI, Discount tire here had some pretty sweet rims for $100 each. They were out of stock so I passed.

I haven't heard much about wheel spacers like spidertrax before... go ahead... call me a noob :) What purpose/benefit do they have?
 
i know that E rating will ride more like a truck and be a smudge taller, also with more load capacity, also a tad bit heavier, and C will give a softer, more comfortable ride. i personally think its all preference, if you plan on towing a trailor or lots of cargo go E, or if you just like the truck feel. also E will be better for off roading

Well I'm officially convinced to get the Spidertrax as well... the Daystar box is sitting right next to me and the Spidertrax should be here on Tuesday... I think Wednesday will be the day! So just to start this off... here are the "before pictures" for the fun to come :D







I think that with the Spidertrax, the factory tires won't look as goofy so I can hold off getting the Dura Tracs I want before the snow flies... PRAY FOR SNOW! haha
