I just bought my first 4runner .I have always wanted one and the second gen body style always looked good to me .I got a 1994 with 147,00 miles .I paid 3400 for it and it is rust free and really clean with nothing major wrong with it .I was wondering if i put any cold air intake or performance chip or exhaust will it hurt or help the gas milage .I most want to put an exhaust system on it .But if any of these items will hurt the gas milage i will probaly leave it alone .If the chip is ok to put in what brand do i need and where do i get it .I saw some on ebay for really cheap claiming 20 hp .Are these any good ? Thanks for any and all input .

I also want to know what are the major things i should watch for where and service at certain intervals besides the usual stuff like brakes ,oil tires ect ect .I forgot to mention my runner is a sr5 2wd 3.0 v6 .thanks.

Yeah im pretty sure exhaust is one of the best ways to gain HP and gas mileage on the 3.0. Im about ready to buy a Borla exhaust setup. as far as chips i doubt they will do much, it takes deep pockets to get 20 more HP out of the 3.0.

Generally, the more power you add to your vehicle the less gas mileage you'll get out of it. I'm not familiar at all with Toyotas 3.0 engine, but i know from my expericence with Fords Powerstroke through the computer chip you can turn off all the emissions crap which improves fuel economy immensly. Also, if your rig is 5-speed shift 1-3-5 or 2-3-5. And always cruise (within reason) in your highest gear.
