New 4runner owner

dressage rider

I just purchased a 2005 t4r after years of owning landrovers. I really got tired of the maintenance money pit of the rovers. They are probably the most undependable vehicles on the road....but they sure drive and look great.

I found a 2005 sr5 with leather, sunroof, towing package, and many other upgrades available for a great price. 70,000 miles and one owner with all maintenance records. The exterior and interior look new. My mechanic said it is in excellent condition and thanks me for getting rid of the rover.

I have to say that after a week, I am really loving my 4runner. I have been really surprised at how great it drives and the gas mileage is amazing!! I feel like I still have a truck but it handles so much better. Every day I have someone tell me a story about how great 4runners are and how they LAST!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am just learning about these great SUVs.

Congrats and welcome! You'll continue to love your new ride more and more each day.

If you use the google search thing at the top of the page, it will search/filter only t4r.org threads. That's the best way of searching. There's tons and tons of info on this site. (And it gets truly addicting). I have the tapatalk app on my smartphone and check this forum like I'm puffing on a cig... haha

Sounds like you got yourself a great ride. Enjoy! Some others may chime in with some links, like JA's website. Acually, I think I have it bookmarked. Enjoy:

Treat it right and it'll last you forever! I got an 05 with 20k miles in October of 2010. One owner, no damage. It's my first car, and I have already made my mind up, I will not buy any other vehicle. This decision was reinforced after I t-boned a girl who ran a stop sign because she "didn't see anyone coming".

That accident was at a little over 40mph. I literally did not feel a thing. I pushed her Camry's doors in about a foot on the passenger side, thank God. This truck is a beast, it drove away.

This is the best truck you could ever have. Welcome to the group!

Wow. Seems like a good selling point for that push bar there. What bar is that? My Westin is thin junk that I think would only amplify damage in an accident...

Then I saw someone who found some little bar for the rear hitch as well. I may look into that for a little parking lot protection...

Thanks. I think the bar in the accident photo is a Broadfeet front runner.

After the accident, it was back ordered for 6 months, so my insurance bumped up my allowance :D

This is what I got instead

Took a little getting used to, but I love it now. That is a Westin sportsman brush guard.

Newbie: you should seriously consider getting one of these!

Welcome to the forum I did the same thing, had a BMW 530I what a blast to drive but afterwards I had to fix it every time.

Thank you to everyone whom replied! I am really enjoying my t4r. Went out of town for this first time and was really pleased with the way it drove on a long trip and the gas mileage is incredible!

It might just be me, but I think this vehicle gets better each time I drive it. I definitley made a good choice!
