New 4Runner owner!

Hello there guys.

Forgive me if I am not following proper protocol by creating a topic without introducing myself. I just purchased a 2001 SR5 4Runner with a lift and bigger wheels already on it, it has 227,XXX and the PO was able to tell me some of the work he had already completed, the radiator, water pump, etc. very little rust on the thing overall I am happy drove it 70mph all the way home no death wobble or issues with the lift or steering.

I do have some questions though, it does have a CEL right now due to evap codes he said, he said that evap canister by the rear axle needed changed something about a pump I there? The cat also sounds like it has a crack I it, is that likely why it hesitates right when I get on the gas? I have not read it with the OBDII reader yet this week.

In reading the stickies thanks ripcord, I need to do plugs, wires, spark plugs, oil, and likely diff fluids?

Any help is appreciated, but some far I really like her. Thanks for any help guys

If I'm not mistaken, That looks exactly (and I mean right down to the brush guard and wheels and tires) like the one that was in the video that's been floating around where they pulled it out of the river up there...There were actually fish falling out of the doors when they opened it up. :fish2:

Ended up being the mass air flo sensor. Awesome that it was a quick fix.

Welcome to the site! That's a sweet looking Runner you got there!

the first things I would do to it would be,
-Seafoam down the VAC lines, and in the gas.
-External trans cooler, read up on 'pink milkshake'
-ALL fluids change.
-PCV valve
-check the ball joints, and replace with only OEM stuff.
-steering rack bushings, if they haven't been changed. (it makes a WORLD of difference)

Start with that stuff and do a lot of reading on here, there is a ton of good information on here.

thats what i had first. the bumper guard. in my opinion, and this is only a suggestion to save you some cash. retouch the paint on the guard and fabricate a hidden winch system. i did that because there were some spots in the UP or muskegon/silver lake area you might need the bumper, not really anywhere i was located which is where you are located. especially not near telegraph:sobbing:

I just don't like the look of the brush guard honestly once I get it off I'm blacking out all the chrome.
