Just bought a 2003 4Runner Limited RWD. Upgraded from an older Lexus RX300 AWD that I squeezed 270,000 miles out of.
I have already accomplished quite a lot, with the help of this forum.
New Denso Spark Plugs (the plugs that came out where the originals, 3 Densos on the Passenger side and 3 NKGs on the drivers side.) 73,000 miles on the 4Runner and it ran great, it runs even better now.
Changed out my PCV (Valve assembly) while I was in there for good measure. The old valve was fine, so now I have a spare.
Drained and filled Diff. Mobile 1 75W-90. The old gear oil was black, and had probably never been changed. The magnet on the drain plug was completely overrun with gunk.
Drained and filled Transmission. Not a sealed unit. Type IV. Easier than an oil change.
Bled all my brake lines and lubed up the front calipers real good. Brakes are still a bit spongy for my liking, and I may go ahead and replace the Rotors soon. Ceramic pads should help too.
Drained and filled my Power Steering and filled back up with Valvoline Maxlife ATF Dex/Merc - This made a big difference, and the steering feels more powerful and needs less effort from the steering input.
I'm going to use the info I found on this forum to program a new key and Fob later this week,
Anyway, Just wanted to say Thank You to all of the posters and the Mods for providing such a great resource for the Do-It-yourselfer.
Cheers,
