NEW 5th Gen BAJA RACK

I think it looks pretty cool. I don't carry stuff on roof racks very often (actually never), but maybe I would if I had a practical rack.

The sticking point for me would be whether it's too tall to fit in my garage - how much height does it add vs. the standard rack on my limited?

I have decided to get this rack, but dont know what time frame. I just bought my suspension, wheels and tires, and am done spending for a bit.

The only thing I want to see a picture of is someone with a ski/snowboard rack on it with out getting crossbars. I imagine it can be done looking at my yakima's I have. Just need to turn one of the feet and use the extension on the other.

I believe it is about 5" from the roof of the truck, but need to go measure for you...get back to you on that.

EDIT! Just measured, and it sits about 6.5" from the roof of the truck.

Here are some right after I installed it, but before I put my BFGs on. I plan on painting the heads of the bolts that you can see there. Will paint them black, but honestly, you cannot really see that they are not black unless you are really looking!

Will this rack replace/fit on top of my rack on my 2010 Trail?

It will replace your stock rack.

1. Remove a total of 8 bolts from stock rack
2. Remove stock rack and wipe clean roof if you want
3. Apply some silicon to the roof openings
4. Mount the Bajarack mounting plates with 8 new bolts and washers
5. Throw new Bajarack on top of mounting plates; use new bolts, washers, nuts
6. Center the Rack
7. Tighten everything up and your done.

I took delivery of this Baja rack yesterday and it looks great but the stretch net was not included as was pictured in the original post here. Has anyone else received the stretch new with theirs as advertised, or was it missing? If missing and you eventually got one, did you get one shipped to you as part of this deal or did you have to order and pay for it? Thanks...

They discontinued it as standard on this rack. I would call them and see if they have any more of them still in their warehouse.

Thanks Snooper - you are correct that they are no longer included, but the guy I worked with there, John Gjatam, got me all fixed up. Great folks to work with at Baja, and of course a great rack.

Just FYI, I've sent numerous e-mails to Gobi over the past few months about their 5th gen rack and have never received a single reply to any of them.

I did talk with someone at Gobi who I expected to provide me with information and have not heard back. This was weeks ago. Customer service is important and I will have to consider that when I hopefully purchase one of these 2 racks. Thanks for the FYI.

FYI, the GOBI website is updated with the 2010 4runner rack options. Also, did you try picking up the phone and calling? Because when I called, they were quick to reply to my voicemail. Don't be lazy and just email since people get hundreds of emails a day and they are easy to miss. Pick up the phone and talk to someone since that is how you will find out about customer service.

^^ I concur, he helped me install mine right behind their office building in Vista. Even though the website only shows a few accessories for this particular rack, he did mention that they have light racks, lights, wiring harnesses, etc. available that I could always add on. Maybe special order or something, IDK.

I agree with you. I actually did call and spoke with a woman who was really nice and really helpful. Like I said, there were a few things she was going to get back to me about and I have yet to hear from her. I guess my post did read that I was complaining of Gobi's customer service; that wasn't really my intention. Mostly, I was pointing out the really positive experiences people seem to have had with Baja.

Thanks for the info re Gobi's website; I am heading there now to check it out.

Not returning e-mails when you have the link on your web page is very poor customer service, and I don't like to deal with companies that have very poor customer service like Gobi. I sure don't need anyone telling me to use the phone instead of e-mail if I have the choice - I try to avoid phone calls as much as possible - one great reason is that I get stuff in writing that way - folks will tell you anything in a phone conversation and you have no proof - like for instance, "we will have one next month." Ha, ha - Gobi has been saying that for many months now. I'd much rather stick with a company like Baja that actually cares about their customers - the same way that I care about mine - keeps them coming back...

My only concerns is the shipping costs to Canada, plus duty!! Everyone wants a piece of the pie. I am going to call them and send an e-mail to confirm the shipping costs. Hopefully it is not too much.
