New All-Terrain Offering for '06 18" Rims!

Hey all,

While i was looking for tires for my brother's LX470, i came across a new size that came out for the Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor: 265/60/18!!!! These are GREAT tires (at least on paper)...i will be seriously looking at them when my BFG wears out. They supposedly outperforms BFG AT KO on the highway and possibly on the trails (i have my doubts about the last part). It has a layer of Kevlar in addition to the twin steel belts, which makes these tires ultra-puncture resistant! The sidewall is only 2-ply, but it has "DuraWall" which makes it more tear resistant than your average tire. DuraWall was first seen on Goodyear MT/R.

Three negatives:
1. It is ONLY P-metric rated in the 265/60/18 size
2. Only 2-plies in the sidewall (it does have Durawall)
3. It is fairly expensive...on par with BFG AT KO

BUT, at least now, you can actually get a good quality all-terrain tire for stock 18" rims.

I hear this from some people...i have had BFG AT KO on my old 4runner and now on my G. I have zero complaints about them on-road...of course, i drive like a grandmother so that might explains my love for them.

Damn Frenchies...they make good bread, wine, and all-terrain tires!

I haven't compared specs on this tires, but I replaced my factory Goodyear Wranglers on my 2004 Z71 Tahoe with the Goodyear SA. While the tire drove great, it was significantly heavier than the previous tire which translated into a significant loss in mileage and much more sluggish starts.

Update...although this size is listed on Goodyear's website, it is still impossible to find from what i hear. Apparently, either Goodyear is not making it or production is very low in this size. You may need to pressure your Goodyear dealer to order these. This will create enough demand for Goodyear to start making them more available.
