New ATX Ledge wheels & GY Silent Armor tires

Hey All,

Just got back from tire shop.

Just installed my new ATX Ledge wheels (with Teflon, oooohhhh) and my new GY S/A Load C tires.

Rims are stock size (17x8) & so are tire sizes (265/70/17), but I did go for the LT C load just for the extra insurance.

Tire review:

On the ride home and running some errands, I immediately noticed a difference in the ride. Much smoother and not as bouncy as before with the Dunlops. I didnt go with E load because I dont do any serious off-roading but went with a stiffer sidewall because the NYC potholes around here lately are as if you did go off-roading!
The ride is just as quiet with these, but the overall feel is just much smoother. The shop went with 35 PSI, but I will try different pressures throughout the week.

So far so good.

Nice wheels and tires! Had a set of the GY SA on my 4th gen and they were better on the streets than the BFG TA. Never had a chance to take it off road though. Want to put the GY SA on my 5th gen limited but I think it may be defeating the purpose of putting off road tires on 20 inch rims.

I was considering the "Ledge" wheels, but after seeing them on your 5thGen, I don't like them as much as the "Mojaves". (nothing personal) By the way, stock size for an SR5 is 17" x 7", Trail 17" x 7.5", and I think the Limited is 20" x 7".

I got the wheels for $168, about (I think). They were on sale on TireRack.
I got the tires for $210.
Install was $20 per tire.
Did not need an alignment.

Like the tread pattern but not crazy about the side wall pattern....a bit much (busy).. IMO. Like the rims!

I agree on the side wall being busy. It screams LOOK AT ME!
I hope the ride, stability and snow/off road benefits of the tire make up for the loud sidewall:driving:

I think its too early to be sure, but when I reset the MPG , I got up to 16.6 mpg, where with the stocks, I was getting 14.3. Again, definitely too early to tell. This was my first ride on these tires. I think I will need to burn through a whole tank to get a good reading.

Deka3, I think that is a really good looking set up. I may be getting these same wheels. What back spacing do your rims have? Also, are the chrome bolts on the lip of the rim removable? I was thinking they would look great if they were black too.

I do not remember the numbers off hand on the back spacing. I'm sure you can get that info off of tirerack.com. As for the chrome bolts, they do not come off.
