Toyota made good reliable cars, but their recent designs have been lacking. They are pumping out too many new models in such short period of time. Their cars do not have the same quality/reliability as in the past.
Only time will tell...but so far, Toyota is finding that it is not always good to expand so quickly.

They are learning, like the big 3, that its hard to offer top notch quality when offering a full line of vehicles. Especially Toyota, who updates most vehicles every 4 years or so. Quality has lagged, and so has re-design times. They will pull out of it. Their "way" is continuous improvement so I expect them to figure out the rapid growth/full line of vehicles problems at some point.
Oh, and if I was rich and didn't give a damn about reliability and maintenance costs, I would go with the S-class. It's not about status, I am in
with the new Benz look.

I would love to see Toyota making a Miata-fighter. Of course, everyone is waiting for the Supra to make a comeback.

O, is that the LS as the top selling luxury car last month! O, is that the Tundra as the top selling pick-up last month. O is that Lexus/Toyotas selling 5 out of the top 10 vehicles!

Wow...one month!! I am sure those vehicles will sell well...but let's wait till the end of the year before claiming anything. Shouldn't you have learned this already, Koz?? Your claims often fall short.
