Where did you have the black powdercoat done for your 4runner? I have an '03 Titanium 4runner, and I've been looking at getting American Racing Mojave with Teflon (Series 3981), but after hearing how cheap it would be to have the powdercoating done, I'd rather do that...

The place i went to was called Wion's Powdercoating in sacramento. I called around pretty much all the places around here to get prices. One said 200 for the set, one said 60 per rim and i had to have them already prepped. Wion's quoted me 45 per rim but when i went to pick them up he said he would do them for 40 per rim. That was by far the cheapest place i talked to. So i would jst start calling places and see what they say.

You know i was looking at that the other day. I suppose it would be cool to have it black or trade with an SR5. I dont know what it involves to remove.

But on the other hand, i still have the front and rear silver inserts and i plan to leave those. So i think the roof rack will stay. I dont think it looks bad or stands out too much.

On my old blazer I repainted my roof rack on the car. Just taped and covered every thing else and got a can of OEM black trim paint. Not sure if I would do it on my 4Runner that cost 3x more than the blazer. Just an idea. Maybe a shop could do it.

Yeah, I could do that, but im not going to. I dont think the silver looks bad so its not worth it IMO.

So i finally got all the lugs painted. Had to do 4 at a time, 1 per wheel per day basically. Hopefully they will hold up pretty well.

Black lugs would look nice. And while you're at it, replace that silver roof rack, too!

yeah, i decided on the black rims too. with a lot of guys coming ang going for deployments - all we got is money. too many people go for the sporty alloy or chrome look. in my opinion our beauties were for offroading not for prissying around the mall or at the beach. so kudos to you my friend for being different. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/attachment.php?s=&postid=111701

Yeah, chrome has no place on a 4runner.

That might be tough to do if I went the powdercoat route.

And i did not move the pressure sensors over. I still have the stock rims with tires mounted in my shed.

Of course i dont mind if you copy a bit, I like hearing that people like what i did enough that they want to copy.

I had mine powdercoated black over a year ago ... they're still holding up well in spite of the wheeling. Next time, I may just buy black wheels and not have to worry about scratching them up as much.

I have to admit, I like the way touches of chrome look on black....but your black wheels look real good.

If I do anything, I will probably look to get some used Tundra/Sequoia rims(hopefully with stock tires still on them) and get them coated...and I will have the sensors moved as well.

I wonder how it would look with the centers coated a shade of gray.

Thanks to this thread, I went on a quest to get a good deal on the same rims.

Located the same rims used with two week old Nitto Terragrapler tires (265/70-17) two hours from me. Will pick them up Saturday.

Found a good powdercoating shop close by for the black powdercoating. Called many places in the LA, could not get anywhere close to the same deal GYoter got in Sacramento.

So hopefully by the end of next week, I will have pictures of the black wheels on a black 4Runner.
