New Bumper being fabbed this week!!!

I believe he is referring to how ARB designs crumples into the mounts for their bullbars to not prematurely set off the airbags when the force is transferred to the frame rails.
 
I know and that is why I went into explaining the sensors are not actually in the bumper and that if anything they become more sensitive. To my knowledge ARB is the only aftermarket bumper designed to work like the factory crumple zones. Vehicle and airbag testing is just to expensive for your average fabrication shop to perform.

Airbag sensors are like an alarm shock sensor on steroids. It is set to go trigger once the vehicle is contacted by a specified force value. Another example would be the an earthquake emergency shut off device for a gas line on your house. It is a steel ball that sits inside a glass capsule. Given enough shaking force the glass brakes and allows the ball to fall and shut off the line. When your truck is hit hard enough the "ball" makes contact completing the circuit and sets off the airbag. Will an aftermakret bumper change the force value? Maybe but IMHO it would make it go off earlier since you are making things stiffer and eliminating hte crumple zone that absorbs some of the impact.

Other option is... if someone is planning on coming up to the Great White North this Summer... let me know. I'll throw in a weekend stay up in Denali Park at the resort.
 
I am probably going to be posting a group buy end of this week. I told him a couple people were interested.
 
Just realized that I know Jimmy. I've actually known him for years. Even sold his dad a Jeep Scrambler of mine a few years ago. We've wheeled together a couple times when I was still out in SoCal.

His old Scrambler was sweet. Until it got stolen and run into a brick wall at 30mph. :dammit:

The old Scramblers are sweet. MY step dad had a 82 for years and it was a blast to drive. We unfortunately decided to sell it this year.
 
I still can't get over this bumper. Way to take the lead and get a fab shop to make a quality bumper and take the time so that it can be replicated. I might go a different route with the hoops but this thing looks mean. I showed my wife incase she needed any Christmas gift ideas and her first comment was "Why does it look so angry?" I doubt I will get it for Christmas but I can hope, right?
 
One can always hope. It looks angry so that trees and rocks jump out of the way..LOL or is it for communiting in So. Cal traffic. I think the second one since you want the rocks and trees when you are out on the trail for a challenge.

That would be nice if traffic would move out of the way. Maybe that bumper plus a train horn would do the trick? If not I'm sure this would work.
