New car scent

Hey.

I’m looking for a quality air freshener with that “new car” scent. I’ve read that getting that new car scent back is a myth. But I’ve used some quality products before and they work.

For example, I used Griot’s Garage leather scent in my old car (with leather seats) and I was really impressed. It actually smelled like a new leather jacket!!

Does anybody know of any good product? Thanks,

Left the sunroof open on my new '04 4runner (dummy!) and had to blot and use fans, but did dry it. Luckily I caught it quickly and did not get a mildew smell, but lost the new car smell. Went on ebay and bought a new set of Toyota factory mats, packaged in sealed plastic from the factory. Opened the package, put them in my runner and yes.... new car smell again! Just my 2cents..good luck, Randy

I'm now using Meguiars Quick Mist on the interior and it smells great....but are there any other "new car smell" sprays that work??

is the quick myst a detailing solution that you use to clean the dash and interior? Is that what gives off the smell that you like?
was looking it up on the net and there are many variations of the quick myst

I bought some Ozium "new car scent" yesterday, The verdict is still out on it, but for the most part it smelled ok.

The new car smell comes from the chemicals and petroleum products used to manufacture the different parts. So there might be air freshners that smell like a new car, but the true smell goes away and once it's gone, it's gone.

Also, enjoy it while it last, because Toyota and Honda are making it an initiative to minimize the new car smell in 2008 or 2009 in Japan, so pretty soon, I would believe the US exports will follow suit. Some people are allergic to the smell. I personally like the smell and think it smells great.

I agree with you, I also like the smell. I am not sure how they will minimize it though, I to have heard of people being allergic to it, but if you have a new car its gonna have to smell like some kinda new materials. Until then, We will enjoy it while we can.

Just a quick update on the Ozium 'New car smell' I have been using it for about 2 weeks. Initially when you spray it around it smells rather odd, I can't quite describe the smell. But after it settles in, it smells great. I had someone get in my 4R yesterday and was told that the vehicle still smells new!!! It's an '03 with 83000 miles. Give it a try, seems to work

I read somewhere that if you get a roll of Clear Plastic Wrap (the stuff you cover bowls with in the kitchen) and un-roll the whole thing inside your car it will smell just like a new car and if you want the smell to last a long time just crumple up all that plastic wrap and shove it under one of the seats.

I think that whoever told you this was banking that the smell of new plastic would do the trick. In theory this may work. But what are you going to do with that big ass wad of plastic wrap afterwards? HAHA,,, Interesting idea
