This past weekend I completed project #1 on my new (220k mile) 4Runner. I replaced the old carpet with brand new carpet.

The vehicle looks so much cleaner (and newer). Well worth the $130 (minus the $.94 I found under the seats) for new carpet.

The carpet is custom molded for the 4Runner. The instructions say to lay the old carpet over the new one to see where to make the holes, but the marks didn't quite line up when I got it in place. I ended up using a small sharp tool to find where the bolt holes were, and cut them when the carpet was in place.

That makes it an even better deal in my mind! X2 on where you got it. My carpet is in great shape, but it would be good to know for when it does get a bit rough.

Thanks. It took me about 6 hours for the whole project, but this was my first time to do this sort of work. If I did it again it would probably take half the time. I ordered the carpet from: StockInteriors.com. I was overall satisfied with the purchase. I ordered some free color samples before I made the purchase, and I went with a slightly lighter gray than factory. My only complaint about the product is that the under-padding seemed to be slightly misaligned. It isn't visibly noticeable, but it made it difficult to cut some of the holes.

Those VOCs are probably less harmful than the 14 years of bacteria in the old carpet.

Looks like it turned out good. I've been wanting to replace my carpet for a while now. I just might have to do it soon!

Like someone mentioned... get some good mats like Husky or Weathertech.

I've got some regular all-weather matts, and they don't work well at all because they don't curve up the sides like that. The snow from my shoe constantly melts and fills up all the groves and leaks over onto the carpet.

That's awesome kzak, thanks for the link. Gotta check them out. I think it'd be cool to have a heavier carpet with maybe a heavier pad/noise reducer backing, might cut down on road noise and make it feel like a tighter cabin. Nice :thumb3:
