New Dog Seat Protector

Hey all, just rescued/adopted a puppy and was looking at options for seat protectors for the back seat. A few friends are recommending the weathertech one but I feel with the seatbelt openings if the puppy decides to relieve himself or any other liquid on the seat then its just going to work in that direction and eventually down into the seat and vehicle. Anyone have one or another one that they recommend?

I was also curious how you protect your interior door panels if a pet decides to jump up to look out the windows...

I have the weather tech and am very pleased with it. My puppy peed on it once and it was a couple minutes before I could pull over. To my surprise it didn't soak through to the seat and didn't go through the seat belt holes either. I know it's expensive, but I would get it again. I also added grommets at the bottom to attach to the seat posts because on my softex it would bunch up after the dogs would move around a little bit.

There is a leash that clips into your seat belt on the rear seat, you can adjust it to how much freedom you want the dog to have. I use one on my red setter, she just can't sit still.

OP, An alternative suggestion: We have used metal wire dog crates for 20 years and lots of dogs, our own and those we foster. The dogs seem to enjoy riding in them and adjust quite well as a crate is their cave/nest at home for sleeping. It keeps them from moving around so much and they can still see us and see out. From our experience, it has been safer if we have to make a sudden stop or maneuver.
A good brand is Midwestpetproducts.com They can be found at most pet stores and on-line.

We fostered a huge mastiff and found he enjoyed the cargo area with a pet barrier for trips to vet.

I've had a bunch of people recommend the weather tech so far but you are the first to confirm no issues like i was concerned. I don't mind spending the money if it's good and i have bought weather tech before and been happy.

He is a pit and his mom was about 65lb when we rescued her and her 3 surviving puppies. I kept one and i know he is gonna get big. Id have to put a crate in the cargo area in the back based on size i would guess and i was hoping to keep him closer (either passenger seat or back seatbench).

Even at 4 months old he started to rip a basic crate apart with ease so i have a crazy strong one i bought for home. At some point I'm sure he would do fine in a normal one and he is a pretty chill dog but has some abandonment issues at the moment we are working on (again, he is a rescue).

Check out member "4rngrl" (I believe that's how it's spelled). She has what looks like very good and sturdy crates for her Rhodesian ridgebacks. And they're also sitting on top of a custom drawer system antman built for her.

This works great for sand, dirt, vomit, and is very no slip.
