New Engine from "The Engine Depot"

He's in CA though, we are in CO :)

Im letting him know that its not normal for a mechanic to say "Hey your HG is bad. I recommend new motor because if I tear it down you get charged if there is more work."

I have done many headgaskets with good success. Not sure why a mechanic would say this. They should do diagnosis of motor for free, not charge him for the work if they find the motor has more damage.

Would you be comfortable posting his info. Maybe some of us Cali. folks can use his services?

If your asking about my buddy that builds motors, he does not do ours. He goes where the money is. He builds older 4 cylinder mitsu turbo motors, Lancer's, BMW's, and his major bread winner now is the new Nissan GTR's. His top build is $45k and there are people lined up for his builds.

$45k GTR motors... man. Some people sure have money to burn.

well.. i gave the go ahead with my mechanic to start repairing the head gasket. i've been going to him for over 10 years, but never anything major like this. he has done all my tune ups, and oil changes, etc..

he has a good plan which he told me but it was in one ear, out the other.

Thanks for all the advice. i will post when its all done.

here's the photo of the broken down 4runner. she has sentimental value to me, thats why i want to repair her.
