New Falken AT tire (A/T3W)

DT is just so good it's scary. Been a customer for 10+ years.

Their CS is so good, that as long as their price is close, I'm good.

Discount Tire advocated for me and my situation. They downright said they can tell I take care of my vehicle and talked to Falken on the phone. They got Falken to accept an out-of-round complaint on the front tires and authorized the rears as well for excessive wear. So they’re offering me a full replacement set at no cost to me which is awesome.

So I have to now decide if I move to the Falken MT/01 in load range C or E, or stay with the AT3W in load range C. It’s kind of a tough choice honestly.

Looks like the price jumped back up to $117. For comparison, DT advertises it at $140, so it's still decent for price matching.

Just picked up 10 on Amazon at 97.15 each. Going to put them on the 4runner and my Wrangler. At that price how could I not.

Seems all 275s are more expensive and less options unfortunately. I want 275 or 285s as well. But for me, I can't justify spending $70-90 more per tire when the 265's will be just fine. I'm thinking get the 265s and wait for good deal on 275 or 285s in the future.

DT went ahead and ordered the Falken MT/01 in 285/70-17 load range C for me even though I didn’t give them my final decision. There is actually very little out there in the case of long term reviews so I’ll start at thread on those and my experience if anyone’s interested.

I’m still very torn about it since I love this tire and it seems as though the guys running LT sizes of this tire aren’t running into the quick wear and cupping issues I ran into. I’m sure DT will send in some LR-C AT3Ws if I ask them to since they ordered the MTs without my final approval.

Just got mine installed, didn't notice any vibration at 55mph and under. I haven't taken them on a highway yet. I did notice that my spare TRD OR wheel had a lot of weights on it.

The 33" LTC MT sounds good (so that's the Gladiator tire) but is over 60lbs.

I just like my acceleration and braking as they are, at least at low elevations. Since a 33" will net me zero trails over my 31.5" tires, I am not really willing to sacrifice that much on road ability. And even with my tires, the vehicle is a turtle in the mountains, especially when loaded. I cannot imagine how it feels on 61lb 33" tires in Colorado (and re-gearing is for dedicated trail rigs and 34" tires, in my opinion).

The LT-C AT3W weighs in about the same so I’m sure everyone here running those is certainly feeling the difference. I know it was a massive relief coming back to the SL AT3W after the Ridge Grapplers from an everyday drivability standpoint. You definitely feel that unsprung weight.

At least the MT sports a 3-ply sidewall and the 2-ply turnups. I’ll definitely be starting a fresh thread on the MT for a good review. Maybe it’ll help those kicking around which tire is right. I have a feeling I haven’t seen the last of the AT3W. It’s just such a good tire that I’m willing to bet the MT doesn’t hit anything as well as this tire does except maybe off road prowess. I really hope I don’t regret my decision but there’s a decent chance I might.
