New Falken AT tire (A/T3W)

I Talked to Tech support at Falken 2 Times. Last time which was around January they said production of the 275-70-17 would begin the 1st quarter of 2018 and release was Scheduled for the Start of the 2nd quarter. Which goes along with what I was told the 1st time I called about a 275-70-17. I was told it would be a D Load Tire also.

I talked to Tim yesterday and he showed nothing in development, nothing in stock in the U.S. warehouse there in Cucamonga. He emphasized that if nothing was in stock they could not possibly be ready to distribute tires to all of their dealers for a 2Q launch. My local Firestone dealer showed no such tire was available in his computer. I'd love to try them out but none are available and April is the start of the second quarter.

If you can get something more concrete I'd be glad to wait and buy a set as well as post pictures.

Decipher, I have the E rated version in the stock size. Definitely notice the ride being rougher, but it's not a huge deal for me. And I do some driving in San Francisco with a fair share of crappy potholed roads. This is coming off of the stock duelers.

Do they actually make a P-rated version of the 285s?

They DO make a P rated in the 285. I have a friend who runs them on his Jeep and loves them. I’m concerned E is going to kill my ride quality and just be overkill for my needs. The P rated stock size has excelled and done everything I’ve asked of it with ease so I’m really tempted to stick with P series again.

Plus, I’ve seen guys report back that they’ve used P series in MOAB repeatedly without issue. Maybe they got lucky or maybe they’ll be fine for my lame Illinois wheeling.

Yeah, you're probably fine with the P rated versions then! I imagine I'd go back to P rated if I drove it more around town.

Oh, I forgot this earlier: I guess one other thing is that the E rated version has a deeper tread depth. Can't remember the details on exactly how big a difference but there's a chart out there somewhere that shows it.

Ugh. Tough choice. I do off-road and tow just don’t want the Runner to ride like a dump truck.

Looks like Falken lists the P series as 32.8 in circumference and the E load as 33”

Actually I disagree. The stock Subaru Bridgestone Potenza RE92's on my 2005 Legacy GT wagon were the worst tires I have ever used. I swapped them out with only 2000 miles on them because they were downright dangerous. It was like driving on ice in light rain. I swear, they should have been recalled.

LOL i forgot about those tires. I had an '06 LGT 5MT. I remember after a light rain getting sideways. Went to Hankook Ventus after that.

This is Disapointing to say the least. Why the Hell would they Say “Oh Yeah that Size is in the Works” with Details on Production and Release Dates when its BS. Especially on 2 seperate occasions when I Called on that Specific Tire and Size. Looks like Its BFG KO2. Oh Well a lot of time waiting and inquiring about something that won’t exist as I was waiting for this Tire in a 275-70-17.:gun5:

Do you HAVE to have the 275? If so, the KO2 is about your best choice. The problem is EVERYONE has them. Sure it’s a great tire but I like being different and these will hang all day with the more expensive KO2.

Plus, what I’m reading about the KO2 and the hardening of the rubber at half life of the tire is not reassuring at all.

Hmm interesting. Yeah never had a problem with my Subaru with the stock and even after I swapped them with some cheap tires. Still did pretty well in most weather. I am sure pretty some winter tires or something along that lines would make even better. I hated the suspension more than the tires lol.

Most stock tires are fine. The RE92's were not. I think that tire was only installed on Legacy GT's. Not regular Legacys nor the Impreza, nor the Spec. B. I don't think Subaru uses those tires any longer. It was almost criminal.

Everybody still pleased with these?

Read through most of the thread and would just like to hear from owners that have had these for 20,000+ miles. Are you still pleased with your choice? At $125/tire they sound too good to be true. For history I've run Nitto Terra Graps, Nitto Ridge Grapplers and Nokians in the winter. I don't want another 55+ lb E-rated tire so I'm looking at these, Cooper AT3 or W, or Nitto G2s. I do 80% of my driving on the highway, but want an all-terrain durable enough for light off-roading and occasional towing. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

..would just like to hear from owners that have had these for 20,000+ miles. Are you still pleased with your choice? ...I do 80% of my driving on the highway, but want an all-terrain durable enough for light off-roading and occasional towing. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

About 25k on them with another 25-30k left in them, at least in the warranty. They are holding up well to alot of highway miles AND frequent offroad (mostly moderate to heavy) use.

It was finally time for me to get new tires and even though I do basically no off pavement driving anymore I wanted something that was good in the snow and didn't look so much like every other stock 'Runner out there. So I just picked up a set of the Falken's. I don't have many miles on them yet but they ride really well and no more out of balance feeling of my old all season ones even though I has those rebalanced. All I can say for now is that they really change the look f the truck for the better. I have them in the stock 265/65/R17 p-rated (extra load it says on them). Price wasn not oo bad at all in my opinion. They were just a tad over $1k for all five including mounting, balancing, and disposal fees. Sorry no pics. I still am computer illiterate and forgot how to post them...

Installed mine and had 3 attempts to balance them so far. 2 from Firestone, 1 from Toyota. Still a shimmy between 60 and 70. Going back to Toyota this week for attempt #4 but so far I am really not happy.

265/70/17 Wildpeaks SL. Still under 500 miles on them but haven’t had any of the balancing issues mentioned. So far no complaints, smooth ride and great price.

I've had my 285/70/17's on for about 10k miles now w/ no balancing issues at all. I've rotated mine fairly religiously at 3k and they are wearing evenly... Now if I can just get the damn alignment to stay in spec.
