Hello cool people,
I just got a 14 Trail KDSS last Saturday. I love this thing. I always love 4runners but for some crazy reason I always ended up getting something else. My first time going for the Runner I ended up with a Tacoma, second time a Camry and the third time an Avalon. Last Saturday I decided that no matter how excited I get about any other Toyota, I would get the Runner. Wow, I'm so happy about my final decision. The dealer had a Land Cruiser and I almost went for it until I remembered why I went to the dealer, for the Runner. Now I'm looking for a heavy duty roof and hitch basket
Peace,
Newt.

Welcome!

Glad you stuck to your guns and got a runner! Any plans on wheeling it?

Thanks. I sold my Harley to have some light off roading fun with the kids. No big muddy or rock adventures. Dirt roads and hills. I don't conceal carry therefore I wouldn't feel comfortable getting stuck somewhere with my cubs alone (not having a gun for extreme self defense situations can be quite stressful to me). I just ordered the Guide to Northern Colorado Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails and the Guide to Colorado Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails.
Thanks again.
Newt.

Good for you!! At least you know the best car maker out there and stuck with it!!

Thanks. I always been a Toyota guy. I had many people trying to convert me to other brands but I only like Toyotas. I like their designs and reliability. There is something about Toyota owners too. They are a fun bunch :thumb:

We have had four Camry's (still have one) each has its own story but they all were kick azz little cars and had pep for a four banger!! Now we have stepped up to the Runners….we had a 99 then my husband totaled it, now we have a 03 & 04!! Best $20,000 investment ever :boink:

Congrats, great purchases. I was about to tell you that Camry's are incredible, but with all honesty toyotas are incredible (To me that is). I just love Toyotas. You won't ever see me driving a different brand.

I said that wrong, My husband totaled the 99 Runner so we bought a 04 Runner and 9 months later bought a 03 Runner each was $10k. All the Camry's we have had were two from '86 and two from '88

Now that I have driven a suv for over a year I don't think I could drive a car again. I feel safe in a bigger vehicle.

Welcome to the club. I just bought my trail over at mountain states last Saturday as well. Where did you get yours at? Let me know which roof basket you get. I ended up buying a skid plate and sliders instead.

Thanks. I got my Barcelona red trail premium KDSS on Saturday 11/23 at Mountain States TOYOTA as well. I don't know which of the currently available roof baskets can take the biggest amount of weight. I'm looking for a roof basket that can take a real beating. I'm unfortunately in the same situation with the hitch basket (Cargo) carrier. I'm open for suggestions. Which skid plates & sliders you went with? Where did you get them?

RCI Metalworks is having an amazing sale on sliders right now trying to get rid of their inventory. I actually purchased a skid plate from them but haven't picked it up yet. it was $150 though which was about $400 cheaper then most other ones. I spoke with them and they are also designing sliders for it in the near future.

He did mention though that the Shrockworks sliders will not work with their skid plates so take that into account.

My window sticker says that the the Runner came with skid plates already installed. Are this skid plates inadequate to carry on off road duties? Do you know if any of the following vehicle wheels (FJ Cruiser, Land Cruiser or 2013 4Runner) are compatible with our 2014 4Runners?

Any of you wise ones know if the 2014 4Runner trail edition can use FJ or 2010 4Rnners & up wheels? I'm trying to get some TRD 16" wheels. My 2014 Trail came with 17" but I like the small rims big tires look. Can any of you wise ones show me the way?:lookout:

17" is the smallest that will fit on a 5th gen. 16" will not clear the break calipers.

Congratulations on your new 4runner.. I also live in Denver and looking for a 4runner..Did Mountain States have a good selection and were you able to deal on the price at all?
