Live north of Atlanta. Always liked 4Runners, but timing never worked out. Came close 10 or so years ago, but ended up with a V8 Grand Cherokee as a similarly spec'd 4Runner was a fair bit more expensive.

Situation has arisen where I will temporarily need a larger vehicle to haul some dogs around for the next 6-8 months. A Gen 3/4 4Runner is at the top of the list along with the Sequoia, Series 100/early 200 Land Cruiser, LX 470, and Honda Pilot.

Trying to find the right example that will retain majority of its value.

Some dogs? Like Newfoundlands or Yorkies? It makes a difference lol.

Either way I’d go Sequoia if it were me. Get an idea in your mind of what you need to haul. Lay it out if you can and measure it and then hit some lots. Reading cargo capacity numbers never works for me. I need to visually see it. I think you’ll find that everything else in your list is gonna get a little tight. Better to have more room and not want later on.

good luck in your search, the 4runner is a great choice, but for a bigger rig probably a 1st gen sequoia could be a good option as well

Good luck!

FWIW if you go with a runner/cruise/Lexus, Atlanta Custom Cruisers down off I-20 does great work. I’ve taken my 1st Gen to them for years and have always been happy.

The Honda Pilot isn’t a bad choice either. I had a 1st gen for my first car and loved it

Welcome! It took several months for me to find a rust free version in NC. Worth waiting for the right one. I found a 2006 Limited in the color I wanted.
