New Gas Pedal - Unshaved?

I bought a new OEM gas pedal for my 06’ V8. The truck has 198k and the acceleration seemed a little jerky. I realized that the pedal feels slightly “notchy” throughout its range, so my guess is this is the cause.

The new pedal, which wasn’t cheap ($275), seems to be larger. I’m assuming it’s “unshaved”.

I’ll be purchasing new weather tech mats so I'm curious if anyone has an opinion on keeping the pedal as is. I understand any comment comes with the liability caveat - I’m just curious if this was more an OEM mat issue and with the weather techs if it’s a non-issue.

I heard it was people stacking mats on top of mats or using unsecured aftermarket mats.

My factory mats and my Weathertechs use the factory securing hooks so they have no chance of being wedged under the gas pedal imo.

Yea, heard similar. Is your pedal shaved or unshaved? Asking for a friend lol

I have weathertech liners and unmodified pedal, with the obx sport pedal cover, no interference.

husky liners , side of my feet scrape the liner cut area by gas pedal.

I have Catch-All floor mats, similar to the Weather Tech except they are carpeted. They can be secured to the floor but I never did. I never had my gas pedal modified and I've never had a problem.

Mine had the recall shave which made reaching the pedal uncomfortable for long drives. I swapped in a JY pedal from another T4R which was never recalled, see photo. I bought Weather Tech mats which did not fit great. Plastic around the gas pedal does not extend up into the foot well which would keep the mat under the pedal. I wished I had looked at Husky Liners which could be better fit and are cheaper.

I have had my truck for almost 21 years, have WeatherTechs with no pedal mod and no issues. Not to picky about the carpet under the pedal after 20+ years.

Yes. It was 100 percent human error but Toyota launched the pedal jigsaw modification campaign out of an excessive abundance of caution. Toyota sent me three letters to get it cut and I finally gave in so it wouldn't bite me in the ass later down the road for some unforeseen reason.
