Hi all, my name is Mike and I live in Madison, WI. I recently purchased a 2006 Toyota 4Runner. It is an SR5 with the Sport Package, 4.7L V8 and 4WD. I've wanted one for a while due to their look, reliability and capabilities and my previous DD was up to 259,000 miles so it was time to upgrade. Here she is -

My username is because I also own a Mustang Cobra and that is the username I use on Mustang forums. Here is that ride -

and an underhood shot -

I plan on modifying the 4Runner's exhaust this winter by swapping out the muffler. Any suggestions for a replacement? I was thinking a Magnaflow Magnapack would sound great and save weight but this is a coming from a Mustang guy.

Welcome from another white, V8, 4th Gen! I replaced my stock muffler with a magna flow 12256 muffler and love the sound. Just loud enough that it sounds like a V8 but not too loud, and no drone. Also nice SVT!

Welcome to T4R Mike... Nice rides! :driving:

Thanks for welcoming me and the compliments.

Yup Dawg4Runner, I am looking for a bit of a V8 rumble but nothing too crazy so the Magnaflow sounds like a good choice. Also, I don't want to piss off the neighbors even more as the Cobra already does that with long-tube headers, Prochamber and SLP Loudmouths.

Did you do the exhaust install yourself? I'd imagine that it just required a few couplers, clamps and maybe a hanger. Any pics of the installed muffler? Thanks!

I got it from a local muffler shop for $175 installed. Yeah, it was as simple as you described. I had already ditched the resonator in the back after mashing it off road. I cut the exhaust pipe right after it curved over the rear axle. Let me check on pics and I'll get back to you.
