Hi there...

New guy here. I currently do not own a T4R, but I used to own a 09 TRD tacoma 4 door on 37's.

I am currently in the process of trying to sell my corvette Z06 and am stuck on getting a T4R or a Jeep Cherokee XJ.

If I decide on a T4R, what years should I be looking for? I dont want something new and honestly prefer under 10k if possible.

I see some came with a rear locker. Can someone help me on what to look for and what to avoid. Years etc....

I am selling the vette to pay off a couple of things, and looking at the XJ or T4R because I miss having a 4x4, and now want cargo space to haul my drums to gigs instead of having to take the wives ride.

Thanks man...im still debating on XJ or T4R...at this moment I am kind of leaning toward T4R all of a sudden. I really enjoyed my tacoma and miss it.

The real reason I am looking at going 4x4 SUV route is because I have recently started gigging again and need something good to haul my drums to different gigs, so cargo space plays a factor. I dont know if the XJ has more or if the T4R has more. That is also a huge factor for me.

T4R are pretty nice especially the 3rd gens. Very capable and a good all around vehicle.

Now that I think about it...the one in the ad, says 5 speed. Looks like a limited...i did not think limited came with manual?

Umm do believe ltd didn't offer a manual trans only in a sr5. That one in the add is a sr5 for sure because ltd has fender flares.

Sense u work in Maryville u should hit up Auto Solutions ask for a guy name Josh he may know or have a good rig sitting around, who knows. I know he has a 4th gen may have a 3rd gen as well if u want to go a dealer route..

I was in the same boat a couple of months ago. I play drums as well in a gigging band. Loud rock and roll, INFINITE FLUX. I have a large Ludwig 26x14" bass, 14x10" rack, 16x16" floor, and 14x6.5" snare. I am also playing fairly large cymbals Paiste 2002 line, 24" Ride, 15"SE hats, 24" Reverend Al's Big Ride (right side crash) & 22" Crash. This is, exactly what made me decide on a Runner. I can easily fit all that in cases along with a medium size SKB hardware case. For the most part we cram all our gear into an "A-Team" themed van and head to shows. But, it is nice having options to cart my own stuff around and have it be safe.

I have a 1994 Toyota Extended cab, but I didn't want to get another canopy to keep the drums safe from the elements and thieving hands. I think if you find a good T4R, it will treat you much better in the long run compared to a Jeep.

I picked up a 2002 4Runner and I am really digging it.
