Hey all!
I bought my wife an 04 4runner and it looks as this will become my secondary vehicle. This means lift, etc... i've used the search function and there is a hell of a lot info. This place is great!

I do have a few questions.

Our 4 runner is going to be a weekend and camping rig. I want to get as much as lift as possbile but keep in mind im not worried about offroad capability. Basically a street truck/poser with as ocasional two track adventure...

How high can I go while keeping the lift simple?

What size tire can I run on the stock wheel?

Why do so many switch to the FJ wheel? is there an offset issue?

The driveshaft thunk... I've been greasing the hell out of this...

3" on the front for a spacer suspension lift. 2" in the rear, spacer as well.

If you have 17" rims, 265/70R17 is a common size with no to minimal rubbing, thus no trimming and the spare will fit underneath. Some have gotten a slightly bigger tire to fit under there. Another popular size is 255/75R17. These are common sizes used on the 17" rims, some have used bigger tires.

The FJ rims has a different offset, I think the difference is 15mm more than 4Runner rims. It gives the 4Runner a slightly wider track and a little extra clearance on the UCA.

Don't over grease the slip joint. Because otherwise it'll be packed with grease and will not allow the driveshaft to compress.
