New guy needs some help

This forum is great, helped me make my decision to go with 4Runners and after looking around for 3rd gen 4Runner's, I found a great deal on a 4th gen 05 Silver SportEdition V8 4WD and bought it.

Now it needs a couple of things and I was hoping you guys could help me out:

1) The left two HVAC dials do not illuminate at night with the lights on, I do not know how to change out the lights so I guess I am going to the stealership unless somebody here can help me out.

2) I am looking for a good bug guard, the Toyota one goes for about $80. Is this what all you guys use or are there better ones?

3) I really like the bull bar that comes from the factory on some 4Runner's but I am unable to find any on ebay. Where can I find these for a decent price, what is a decent price for one and are they hard to install?

4) Front skid plates, the ones from Toyota are about $100 on ebay, is that a decent price and are they easy to install?


Thanks again for all your help guys. I know there are a lot of folks on here from Colorado, I was wondering if you all get together to go wheelin and would like to join in and see what my 4Runner can do.

2) there are toyota OEM US and Canadian versions of bug guards. I personally chose the CAN version bc it doesnt look like a wing and provides more paint protection. I think there are other options also, do a quick search.

4) Dont waste your money on the factory "SKID" , emphasize the " " as it really is simply for looks alone and there is nothing skid plate-ish about it....
If you really want a good front skidplate checkout budbuilt or demello.v(there are more too)

Thanks for the reply. I will look into the CAN version of the bug shield. How about the valor exhaust tip, where can I get these and how much do they cost?
