New guy took of runnin boards and a question

Hey folks. Just got this '98 4RUNNER about a month ago. Couldn't wait for decent weather to work on it some. I did have a few plans to mod it a bit but had to cancel them due to my wife gettin laid off. Oh well.

Anyhow, this is my rig without the runnin boards. It looks so much better and I don't hit my leg on the damn board anymore gettin out.

And here is what I consider an eyesore. The area just below the flare where the RB used to connect. Is there an OEM Toyota mud flap that will fit this without replacing the whole flare? Thanks alot.

i took my running boards off for the same reason, the back of my pant leg stayed dirty and one 8 inch section of the running boards stayed clean

Toyota did have the optional mudflap piece for the skinny black flares but most sites have discontinued them but search OEM part sites and ebay and you might find a pair but new they will cost about $90 for the pair.

If I remember correctly he uses Mother's Back to Black.

I use Armor All and it seems to work pretty well.

back to black? ill have to give it a shot my plastic piece on the back and the roof rack and around the windows are looking crappy. but the one on the back looks good for like week and then its all white again pissin me off.

Since we are on the topic, is there a product I can use to help bring the color back to my fenders? I have the colored Limited ones and they are faded or something around the rubber seal.

if its the rubber part between the flare and the body i have the same problem and ive tried everything and nothing i used helped.

lol its a PITA sometimes. especially when your out with friends and they are like dude, whats that on the back of your leg?

It's auctually not the rubber part, it the part of the flare right beside it. Like just the first 1" of paint is faded on the top of the flare, but it bothers me.

use that back to black on your flairs and trip pieces guys. used to use that stuff on my black fender flairs on my wrangler and they always looked new. still use it on my car to this day and they are awesome

I actually was using Stoner's Trim Shine which is sprayed on then I rub it in. It last for about a month but it's easy to apply so it doesn't take long but in the winter I only do them every couple of months.

totally off topic but ron, are you running the terra grapplers on your car? and i see you have it in a 265/75/16... where do they rub/ do you have a lift to counter act it

brutus, check other websites to see what options they have so you dont have to spend and arm and a leg on toyota factory ones

Actually I have one of the '99s with the taller OEM coils and haven't had any rubbing issues and actually have a bit of clearance between the tire and everything else even when off roading.
