New here - opinions on possible new ride

We agreed to terms. A bit of paperwork tomorrow and I need to complete the sale of the X5 tomorrow AM. So if all goes well yes it will be mine. :D

And check-o on the BFG's Mud Terrains. My guess too is 6 mo. Then I am considering either the BFG All Terrain TKO's or Bridgestone Revo's.

Recommendations on which is better and why?

Nice purchase! However, I have to say that those BFG mud's still have a lot more than 6 months in them. They've got 8-10K miles in them yet. Especially if you don't need them to actually work in the mud. Unless of course...you drive 8k miles every 6 months.


For new tires, I'd go with Revo's. Had them on my truck for a while, now they're on my sister's. Love them. Also really like BFG A/T's...but the Revo's are better in wet and snow.

Much appreciated. I'll be doing some more reseach on the tires. Good in wet snow is good for around here in the sierras. Might give the Reno's a try.

I've had both. The BFG KO's are a classic design, but the Revo's are a more recent design and better performance over the life of the tire. The KO's are good when new but get noisy toward the end. Toyo Open Country AT's are a similar design to the Revo's at a much better price.

There is a long thread on here about tires, may want to go read up vs. repeating all that mess here.

Yeah, the 5 points are way cooler looking! ha ha ha! Other than that, I know nothing regarding the difference....sorry.

BTW, good luck with finalizing everything tomorow, and hope she's a good truck for you! I've hade mine for almost 7 years now....still love her!
 
Got it all done today. 10 min to sign bill of sale & title, 10 min to get smog check, and then 3.5 hrs at DMV. Rediculous.

Gave me time to read through some threads here. Probably going to do the tundra brakes upgrade. Need to find a new key fob for the door locks because it locks but won't unlock (?). A few other odds & ends. Looks great in my garage!

Super happy.

Sounds like you got a good deal. I sold my 98' Limited about 4 years ago for $11k with 160,000 miles on it. A 2001 would have been worth more round these parts I'd think as I assume it had less than 160k.

Pics will be posted soon. Looks likey they took down the 'for sale' ad so my previous picks got remvoed. I'll take some soon. It's supposed to snow here so maybe some fun-wheeling is in order. ;):

Can't post the pick from work. I'll work on some this weekend. Snowing sideways here in Reno. LOL

The BFG M/T's were a bit slick today on my way to work. Worn down for around here for sure when it comes down 6" in 3 hrs. Ha! Where is that damn tire thread - looked but didn't see it.

1st up on my list of mods is the brake swap to the Tundra. Got the parts list figured at local Napa for $340 w/ tax. Nice. Soon as the snow is gone its a go with the help of a friend who has the know-how.

After that... drive and drive. Plan is to make small increments. I do have a line on a set of king coilovers that are on a buddy's brothers 1996 that he rolled and totalled. Hoping to get them at a good price since he orig picked them up at a junk yard for $100. We'll see.

Any suggestions on good performance enhancements - I'm doing performance mods for driving as a daily drive, best snow performance, towing to the motorcycle track and some light duty off road.
