New here - opinions on possible new ride

1st up on my list of mods is the brake swap to the Tundra. Got the parts list figured at local Napa for $340 w/ tax. Nice. Soon as the snow is gone its a go with the help of a friend who has the know-how.

noticed this afternoon that I have these rims:

Instead of these:

Anyone knwo the difference?

Top ones allow the 231mm (13WL) Tundra brake upgrade without modification.
Bottom one can fit 199mm Tundra calipers without modification and 231mm with modification.

Thanks for all the info. Been reading up on the info re: the brake swap. Found all the parts I need at Napa-auto. Wondering if I'll be able to get the core charge/deposit back when I bring back my 4runner calipers instead of tundra's. :-?

For tires I've narrrowed it down to a few choices.
Kumho Road Venture SAT KL61. Load ranges C and E & should be ok with the C@2300 lbs per tire. Speed rating Q/99 $560 set. These run a touch narrower than other tires of the same metric "size" @ 31.4 x 10.4. I'm almost wondering if I could fit a set of 285/75 16's at 11.2 x 32.7. Current tires are BFG M/T's 265/75 which measured 10.5 x 31.9. 3/4" Hmmm :-? Wonder if they would rub. $652/set and D rated.

Bridgestone Dueller A/T Revo similar load range better speed rating. Well regarded around here, about the same ratings as the Kumho's on tire rack. Kumho's are rated a little better for snow and tire wear which is sort of important for around here. $620/set. Look good too.

Firestone Destination A/T . These look comparable to the bridgestone and Kumho's. Price is good at $520/set. Ratings are about the same at both the Revo and Kumho.

Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S. Simiular on ratings but a bit worse on snow which might be an issue here. $544/set.

If I stay with a MT tire I've narrowed it down to three (probably not needed as I am rarely going off road in mud so it'd be mostly for looks and maybe the deepest snow days tho I think the Kumho Rd Venture SAT's are as good in snow.
Kumho Road Venture MT KL71. Looks like a good tire for the price @ $692/set. Ratings are good. Of course a bit noisy compared to the others but BFG M/T's I have now are not at all loud and they are word down a bit.

BFG's M/T KM2's. Look good and well rated. Cost a $100 more a set @ $796.

Treadwrights' Guard Dog look good and are priced really well @ $450 shipped. For muds that is a real savings. From thier site it looks like they will wear a bit quicker than the name brands but the price might make it a winner. For the TW A/T's the price is not enough of a savings vs. the above to make a retread worth while.

One more tire I wonder about are these - Firestone Winterforce UV. I know they are a winter/snow designed tire but @ $80 a tire or $320/set even if they last 2/3 as long it is still a good value. Don't know if I could live with the 'passenger tire' look tho. Good for the girlfriend's F150 for sure. :-D

Yes, I've heard you can return 4Runner calipers as core for Tundras.

Otherwise, I'd lean towards the Revo's. I have had both Kumho and Bridgestone and prefer the latter. My 2 cents.

Been thinking about that. For now I like them but I don't use em to step into the rig. I'd need to find a set of mud flaps before I take them off. Round here we get a lot of snow and weather. The sides get DIRTY so need something to keep it clean.

Snapped a few pics today. First chance I had to part next to another T4R side by side. I like mine... LOL :whipping2

Yeah, the height does look better!

I did put some mudflaps on the front wheel wells for the same reason. Rooster tails up the sides were cool but better to deflect. I just found some flaps at Autozone that worked very well and easy to install.

My ride is in getting a little work done today on a few possibly neglected items - timing belt since no sticker and probably not done, water pump, coolant flush, other belts (a bit squeaky), differential flush & fill, already just changed the air filter. Checked tranny fluid looks new, checked spark plugs look new... after that I should be good to go for a while.
