I am a new owner of a T4R. Although my wife owns a 07 Rav4, I have always been a Ford Man. I wanted a SUV and decided to go out and buy a 1999 T4R SR5 with 168k because I heard that Toyotas last a long time, and I liked the back window that rolls down for my weimaraners. I have had it for a week now and I am willing to say that it handles on and off road better than any Ford I have ever had. How long does the average Toyota engine last if properly maintained?

Welcome to the forum, it's the best out there.
I've seen runners with almost 300,000 miles on them. Just take care of them, and they'll take care of you. I've found that other things start breaking down before the engine ever does. Mostly depends on how the previous owner treated it.
