new hho installed

driving today...the fuel guage is moving down slowly..so
still looking good without the HHO...I turned up my O2
override device a few millivolts yesterday and it is possible
that burning the hydrogen also burned up some carbon
in the engine....I don;t really know...but If I get north
of 21-22 in mixed hwy.city driving..that is very very good....

Im going to let the tank run down....first..

I dont think there's any truth behind any of this. Lets see some pictures of this system or something? I also feel like if this worked so well there would be more hype about it.
 
Say what you will, this stuff is going in the tank of my 03 SE V8 this week. Im tired of 13 MPG and $ 3.45 per gallon. I bought a 16 oz bottle of PURE Acetone from the local Sally beauty shop today. If it doesnt work, Im out $ 3.70 for the acetone.
 
Im with you..I want to try it, I just need to be really careful of the PAINT. Its worth a shot.

ok....I just had to refill....my mixed MPG with real city drving and
some hwy was 19.78 MPG this is without HHO...I have never
had a mixed driving mileage this high..on a full tank...

before I started MPG tune-up I was getting 15.5 MPG or around
225 miles on full tank....now Im around 300.

With my dissapointing resutls with the HHO...I am researching
to see if I have done something wrong. For those of you who
are skeptics I have seen nothing to change your mind in my breif
experiments so far.

HOwever if you think your mileage cannot be improved over
the factory settings.....think again.... and go to
www.smartgas.net for a hi MPG tune-up....

remember noone here is suggesting you increase your energy
amount by introducing Hydrogen....in theory it is only supposed
to act as a catalyst to have your fuel burn faster, cleaner and hotter....

also.....at www.smartgas.net they sell a fever buster...that is
what I call my o2 OVERRRIDE...I thought this thing did not
help me until 2 weeks ago...when I found a good set point..since
then my mileage has been staying high...

Last summer my record mPG on hwy was 26.5 ....ON 420 MILE
trip....I have never been able to beat that record. This was due
to the trucks computer enriching my fuel....Now that my O2
override is set....I should be able to repoduce higher mileage
all the time now....

Anyone know what happened to www.smartgas.net ?

It seems to be down for at least several days.

BTW: I am currently on my first tank using acetone in my LC. I want to run at least two tanks before coming to any conclusions.
 
I have to ask... What's the NO output do with the O2 sensor bypass thingy. The next question I have is: If it's leaned out that far isn't the knock sensor re****ing the heck out of timing? It must feel somewhat unresponsive. I wonder if the TPS and mass-airflow override the tweaked O2 sensor reading to give full power when it's floored.

I want this to work and be great for all. I am not a tree huggin' freak but I don't want to take my vehicle out of ULEV status either. Running that lean means the NO has to be high... JMHO :cheers:

Take this for what its worth. but i saw a episode of mythbuster's the other night and they were doing some myth of the 100 mpg car and they tried acetone. the result was it made the gas burn faster and had a decline in mpg.

True, but I've seen posts from acetone advocates on other forums that Mythbusters used the wrong amount. So not sure if we'll really know.

Mythbusters site doesn't seem to have the detail. But this site does, as does the Mythbusters forum.

I just finished my 4th tank of the Gas - Acetone mix in a ratio of about 2.5 oz Acetone per 10 Gallons of gas.

Result: no change in gas mileage

I am really disappointed. Maybe it has to be used in conjunction with some other techniques but acetone by itself is not effective.

When smartgas.net was still running I read something about that efficiency goes up the larger the cylinder volume. In other words: A 4.7 V6 would be more efficient than a 4.7 V8. Not sure if this is true at all and since smartgas.net is still down I cannot read up on it anymore.

Anyone else have any luck?
 
I tried the acetone on 3 tanks of fuel as well as some very light driving habbits. I saw absolutely no increase in fuel milage. The only thing I did was waste time and a little money.

To be honest, I had to try it but it doesnt work. Its not worth the risk of damaging anything in the fuel system and its not worth chancing spilling it on the paint.

Darn...just now stumbled upon this thread. Yeah, that website isn't working for me either. I really did want the V8, and I'm not sorry I got it. But I am trying my best to make it the most possibly efficient V8 out there. I love to drive...
Anyway, I just did the SeaFoam to the gas tank last night. I'll do the SeaFoam to the crankcase when I need to do the oil change in about 1,500 miles.
 
Anymore results on the HHO? I am also curious about the O2 override... Do you notice any pinging from leaning so much? I know the T4R will arrest it but I would think you'd notice it occasionally or at least notice less power.

HHO hydrogen generator

I've seen many news reals on HHO hydrogen generators. If it's BS - it fooled FOX News, CBS News and ABC News. I'm willing to give it a try - the problem lies within the setup - it is possible to damage your engine because if it's not regulated properly, it can over heat the cylander heads - and even if it is done right, there's trial and error involved. Another variable is the computer system used for air intake and fuel management - which I know little to nothing about.

The Acetone thing sounds good. Mind you this, he's using 2-3 onces per 10 gallons. That's about the same amount of fuel contaminant that you get by filling up at the local gas and sip. It won't hurt your engine in that quantity.

If hydrogen is being generated, molecules are being split apart (perhaps through electrolosis of water). To split molecules energy is needed. My guess is this may work in theory, but in practice the energy needed to split moleculed is greater than the energy delivered to the engine.

Sometimes solid theory ans snakeoil are mixed to fool many people. This wouldn't be the first time the media has exploited the public's desire for better gas mileage. All they care about are ratings...

I am not an engineer and I too am a bit cynical. What of us non-engineering types seem to NOT factor is the amount of electricity required to make useful amounts of Hydrogen. Another thing we don't factor is turning the alternator. A completely 'unloaded' alternator spins for the internal fan, bearing friction and belt friction; that's it. A loaded alternator can take serious horsepower to turn. A horsepower spent on the alternator costs the same as a horsepower spent on carrying extra weight; approx .43lbs of gas/hr/hp.

How many amps do the HHO's draw? If it's bizarrely low how can that be enough to generate enough H2?

Does the whole conservation of energy thing stick a pipe cleaner in this pipe dream? Sean, am I on the right track?

Yeah, that;s about the size of it... It all comes down to irreversibilities and the "No free lunch" rule...

Theory is great, and is probably used in the white paper describing this, but I've not been able to find it.

Remember, the most efficient power plants in the world, using closed water reheaters and all the latest technology are still having a devil of a time reaching 70-80% efficiency.

Defining efficiency as work out over energy in.

Unless we're talking about fusion or fission here, it seems unlikely.
