by the way, if you don't get the point I'm making, one is the Rav4, one is the highlander.

C'mon, the Land Cruiser clearly has a more distinctive roof rack! :D

Yeah, this pattern sucks!
Something to look forward to 2010 when the new 4Runner comes out........:D

I went to the Toyota dealer with my mother the other day to look at the new Highlander (she's interested in it, not me!) and they had about seven of them on the lot. They had two black ones nose-to-nose at the end of the row. My mother looked at the sticker price on the first one, and it was nearly $40,000. Then she walked over to the next one and the sticker read $21,000. I looked again and she was reading the sticker from a black Rav4, not a Highlander. It's amazing how similar the two vehicles look, even in person.

Thanks to Peter for the following comparison: sienna, Rav4, Highlander, Landcruiser... or did I get that mixed up?

in case you're wondering, I named this image ewww.jpg

Is it just me, or does the minivan look more sporty than the rest??!!?

I think the rav4 looks sporty, the highlander looks like wagon, and the land cruiser looks under stylized. (and yes, I too am surprised that I can make that much distinction out of these three SUV's)

I don't like this trend at all. If the 5th generation 4Runner looks anything like that, I will be very unhappy. Even though it was plain, I miss the previous Toyota SUV styling. Oh, and let me add to this comparison:

haha im not 4runner hater, but they are all starting to look alike! haha. I love the way mine looks too, with the exception of the need for a 2/1...

Toyota is just doing what Euro brands like Mercedes, BMW, Audi, etc. in having a styling theme. They're doing the L-finess theme with Lexus. The problem is the styling theme Toyota chose for their SUV is too soft, bloated and feminine. Blah.:(

oh man, I really hope they don't do this to the 4Runner. Every time more pictures come out of their other lines, I get more worried.

I hope they realize that 4Runner owners don't want that!!

If the 4R comes out looking like a rounded bloated bubble look , this will be the last one I own. I HATE that look. I think its acceptable on the Rav4 , but thats it.

My lease is up in Feb 2009 so I should have a good idea of what it looks like , plus I need to buy my lease out , but when I'm ready to trade I'll go for a Jeep , Tahoe , or H3 ..... we'll see but it wont be a 4R if thats the way it looks.

I will need to buy my lease out because I took out a 27k per year lease ( when I had a different career) and will be way under that by approx. 25k , plus I have an extended warranty , and I'll be damned if I'm turning it in and giving them all those miles and a warranty for free.

Elusive , that thing looks so sweet !!!

omg, that patterns are ugly. i wouldn't buy no more 4runner if 4R is going to the same trend. i just simply hate that bubble looking except SC430. that bubble look is too tame and doesn't look mean at all, at least on the LC.

That new highlander design looks like it has it's tail lifted up pretty and ready to recieve all in-coming and romantic advances. I guess that is why it is a cross-over wanna be... LOL

I'm so thankful I picked up my 98 4Runner when I did. All of them look horrible!!! I was not a fan of the newer gen of the 4Runners. What happened to SUV = rugged. I guess if I ever purchase another SUV, it will have to be in the Land Rover / BMW side. I just cannot be more thankful I got that 98 Runner when I did even though it was not limited. I may try to pick up another late model after I pay this one off as it'll be a collector series....

Have you seen the new Landrover pictures? And you complain about the 4th Gen?

Personally I Like the New Highlander and the New Land Cruiser! The Highlander is a Cross over, its not really as much of offroading vehicle like the 4Runner. So I think the new look suits it well. The New Land Cruiser looks better than the ugly body style they have had for the past 15 years. As much as I hate to say it the new 4Runner will probably be right in line those as well. I was hoping for a more rugged look, but Toyota is probably looking at the fact that now the buyer ratio is about 50/50 Male to Female for almost all there vehicles. Especially the 4runner. The new FJ Cruiser is built more for the offroader!! Thats just the way that the market is now. That more rounded clean look is the new style. Look at the SAAB 9-7x,Audi Q7 Infiniti FX, Hyundai Santa Fe & Veracruz(Not that the Hyundai really compares), and Lexus SUV's They all are more rounded now.
