here is the first functional and in testing model of the replica class 4 that reese used to make for the yotas.
i made it a little long on the bottom for a exit plate cover that will be optional for people not wanting the spare tire carrier.

I know you said it is a prototype but I hope the final product has welds that actually penetrate the metal. No offense but I wouldn't want to tow anything with that setup.

i think the final will be bolt in sections. so i can weld it on the table not from under the truck.
and trust me they burned threw a few times so i know it was penetrating both pieces.
i was running to hot and to fast so it bubbled out a lot more then expected.
next time im tig welding it not mig

What welder were you using and what settings? How thick is that metal? Maybe it just looks deceiving because you already painted it.

miller 5000 mig at 20 amps with feed rate 3.5 and argon shielded. its a beast and the the paint is bedliner by duplicolor

ill post the video i do this weekend when i attempt to pull a 5,000lbs chunk of concrete of dead weight. ill se what fails first my hitch or my engine.

Not to see you destroy tour hitch or engine, but just to see what part of your drive train fails first. I think it will be your clutch Don't go destroying your rig just to show us that your hitch is strong.

You should fix your post so the pics are lined up vertically, scrolling sideways to post and see pics makes me stabby.

Also, is that mounted on the outside of the frame rails? Why did you choose to do it that way? Isn't there a body mount in the way?

my old reese hitch was the same way it does go to the outside and it bolts in 3 locations on the rail.
its 1/2 plate steel and it has a cut out for the body mount. ill snap a picture today while i work on my wife's truck
