New idea for steering wheel cover

I finally got around to doing this today. I went down to our military supply store and picked up some 550 paracord with the idea to wrap my steering wheel. I just can't ever seem to find a cover that I like and that lasts more than 4 or so months for me. This should last a while and could be useful if I ever were in an emergency situation.

I couldn't decide if I should do the two smaller sides so I left it alone. What do yall think? Colors I went with were an olive drab and desert camo.

I like it and probably like it better in person. What does the backside look like? How'd you tie it off?

Rope would definitely be useful in a survivalist situation. Good idea.

I think it looks like you wrapped a bunch of cord around your steering wheel. If it does the job for you then awesome. I personally wouldn't choose to do that, looks very out of place and tacky.

Looks pretty cool. Does it grip well? I use the s#$t out of that stuff while camping and travelling, so it probably wouldnt last long on my wheel...

I think it does look better in person. The desert camo looks brighter than what it really is cus of the flash. I do wish I would have gotten a darker tan or a mocha to match the interior better. It grips pretty well. I looped the ends under the last wrap, cut them and burned them down to stay in place.

I don't know how you would bridge the gap, with my limited weaving knowledge, but IMO it would look better if you could do it with one continuous rope all the way around.

Well, I asked my fiance about using one length of rope....no luck there either lol.

Even if you did separate pieces of rope, filling in the other 2 parts would look more complete.

I never did show the final product for this thread.. Easy to do and after 3 or so months it still looks new. Definitely one of my favorite easy mods.

Litterally, you just wrap it around lol..

I looped the ends under the last wrap, cut, and burned it down to make sure it wouldn't come undone. Make the burns kind of on the back side so you don't see or feel them. It's not perfect but it definitely does the job.

I don't know specifically how much cord took for each section. I just bought 100' of each color.

If you do this mod, you might get a little tangled up if you don't pay attention. So take your time!
