New in the 4th Gen 4x4

Good day guys!

I used to have a 2008 4x2 4runner and loved that truck till I had to get deployed and got rid of it. It was a lease so it was stock!

I had a 1996 Land Cruiser with a 4" lift and running 315's, and I will say I looooove those trucks but flipped mine and those are running for too much money.

I've seen some 4th Gen 4runners 4x4 for a decent price and I know Toyota is reliable, so I am considering on getting one. Here comes the question.

I wanna be able to run a 35" tire with a 17" wheel. I will take this vehicle offroading and it will be my daily driver. I am located in South Florida so I will see mud and once in a while will go to Central Florida and do some hill climbing and flexing.

What suspension kit do I have to get in order for these tires to fit and not to rub while flexing? If there is such kit where do I get it since I know where to get Land Cruiser stuff but not 4runner.

Here is my 4Runner with 35s and 17" stock rims.

and a crappy cell phone pic with the bumper.

I went with the 2.5 Overland Warehouse COs because they are beefy. Here they are compared to the Bilstein stock with spacer lift.

I also went with the 2.5s because they will hold the weight of the bumper much better.

O.k I at least know it is possible to run them. Now how does it perform in the trails? I will regear since I was running 4.88's on my TLC

How much does that suspension run for aprox? I will have someone installing that know how to do it and I will help on that too. Kinda wanna prepare myself. Is that a complete kit? Or do I have to purchase parts by parts?

Well here is a short video.



I love these tires and it performs phenomenally. Be fair warned, you have to trim a lot.

The lift is expensive. Here is the package.
Full 2.5" suspension kit

I have just the front CO's and All Pro Off Road 3.5" spacers found here:

You also need bump stop spacers for the back so when you flex out it doesn't go into your trunk. :lol:

I also have a 1.5" Body Lift. If I had to do it again I would do a 1.75 because I know its doable and would have added a little more clearance. But you can find the BL here.

what all trimming do you have to do to put the 35s on i have 35in mud grapplers already. my lifts are a 3/2 revtech and 1in BL FROM toyotech. what do i need to do to put them on without alot of scrubbing

im running 35s with basically no trouble its alittle harder to park but that the

only difference basically i had to trim a good bit but cant really tell i also

have 2inch spacers

So are you running aftermarket wheels are spacers?

Are you rubbing any on your runner .. What's you gas mpg...your toyos should be a lot skinnier... I only rub when I park or really sharp turns

I dont rub anymore. With my bumper and some trimming im rub free. Complete lock on turns too!

You guys with 35s what is the mpg drop from 33s to 35s? Does anyone know an honest answer cause I am looking at adventually building a 4runner an was planning on 33's but trying to be somewhat mpg conservative but 35 would put a huge smile on my face but if they drink my gas I'll be hurting
