Nossir, the 22r and 22re are gasoline engines.

hey mate, good to see some more fellow aussies on here.

as for the engine, the 22R and 22R-E are both petrol engines, yours should be the 2L (that's the name of the engine, not the capacity...not sure why they thought to use an L after a number in the name of an engine, but i guess there's not much we can do about it now...)
