Hello from Bentonville, Arkansas!

This is my fiance's 1997 Limited 4runner. Her parents bought it new a long time ago and gave it to her this past year. It has 228K miles. Overall it runs well for 200k+ miles! I have slowly been doing some tune-ups to it over the last six months.

It's got an annoying clunk somewhere is the drive column. I need to get that figured out.

It's her daily commuter and it will also be used to haul my motorcycle to the race track this summer. We plan to keep it for a couple of years until our family grows.

Is the clunk happening after braking to a stop then releasing the brake?

No. The clunk happens while in motion. I am starting to think it's something in the wheel.

Well the drive shaft has two slip joints that most people don't realize needs to be greased. It may be dry and starts to release while driving causing a clunk although this typically happens when you come to a stop and then release the brake to accelerate but I suppose it can happen while driving.
