Hi guys, been using this forum for info for some time and figured it was time to register. I am a tech with 40 years of experience with British and Italian sports and luxury cars. We drive Toyotas, sure I dont need to explain why. We recently acquired an 04 4runner Sport with a V6. It has the usual issues concerning keys and the transfer case. We recieved 1 master key and an Ilco key with the vehicle. Both turn off the imobilizer system and run the truck. The dealer told me the Ilco key would not work. Have read several threads about syncronizing keys to this system. Havent tried any of them yet. Which is most likely to work? The truck is very clean with 82k on the odo. Suspect the 4wd low has never been engaged and refuses to work now although 4Hi seems to work. Will probably attempt some minor disassembly of the actuator to access the motors.
