I am probably the only woman on this site so here goes...I have an 04 T4R Sport Ed. V8/4WD. I have been educating myself and would like some advice. I am finally ready to do some upgrades to my Runr after many years off road in a UTV. I have asked two different off road places the best set up for my truck and no one wants to give it a shot. I still want it to be the fantastic daily driver , with decent off road capabilities. I am a desert, dune, MOab rider. I would like to keep the stock 17" rims. The truck has 85K miles. LIft? Spacers? Couils? Billstiens? EMU? replacing XREAS? Any suggestions? Thanks, Becky

Welcome, and I do know of several other women here so you're not alone. Your lift setup all depends on how serious you want to get with it. Adding a spacer lift is the cheapest. With this, you'll gain clearance, but no extra travel. The ride will remain the same on road and you'll have limited flex off road. I've been very impressed with the Bilstein 5100 shocks. A friend has a set, combined with the OEM springs off of an FJ Cruiser which is something you should consider, and they ride better than his XREAS on road (IMO), offer more flex off road, and you can adjust the front's to get up to 2.5" lift (you would want a spacer in the rear). There are many other options up from there which I'm not as familiar with.

I'm also in the process of doing lift and just finished ordering the front parts (Bilstein 5100) and hopefully the back shock will be available soon (back order) from the shock maker.

you say a spacer rear and not the front? why is that in your own opionion. Im waiting got a few more miles for my warranty to expire then considering doing the FJ spring/5100 combo and/or considering a fox set up .

You need to put spacer at the back coil (if set the front Bilstein 5100 to 2.5" lift and still going to use the OEM/original coil to compensate the front). But if will also upgrade the back coil (e.g: OME 985), you don't have to add spacer anymore.
The back spacer is cheaper compared to a $150+ coil spring but then again it's up for you to decide which route to go.
