Hi everybody. I've been lurking here for the last month or so because I was planning on buying a 2004. You have a really
great forum here and I really appreciate info to be found here. I've learned a lot here about owners' perceptions of the
fourth generation 4Runners and it's always nice to gather whatever info you can find.
I've had one of each of the generations of 4Runner, as well as a number of Celicas, Supras, and others over the years. I picked up my black 2004 Limited w/NAV on April 14 and I gotta say IT'S PERFECT! I haven't found a single flaw, anywhere, inside or out!!
Anyway, the point of my post: I've been content to just lurk here so far because I haven't had anything new to offer, but now I've found a terrific treatment for the paint on this baby and I wanted to let you know about my experience.
I've had over forty cars, (yeah, I'm an old fart), but this is my first black one. I've always been fussy about taking care of my cars and liked to keep them really sweet looking, but always resisted the attraction of black, but this time I finally took the plunge.
Until a few years ago, I'd used mostly Meguiar's products on our cars. Then I discovered Zaino products and I figured I'd never find anything better. Well, I think now I have. I was looking around the local auto parts store and saw that Meguiar's has a new treatment called NXT Generation Tech Wax. I figured I'd give it a try.
I first clayed the paint with Griot's Clay, then applied the NXT with the PC orbital buffer and followed it up with Meguiar's Quick Detailer. This stuff is GREAT! The black paint just glows! It almost shimmers. The NXT leaves NO dust, wipes on and off so easily I wouldn't even have thought it was possible. The only way I can think of to improve it's performance is if it applied itself and also removed itself, it's that good so far.
I've also used it on my wife's silver Celica and I think it also improved it as much as it did the 4Runner.
I don't know how long it'll last through the next several car washes, but it's so easy to apply that it doesn't really matter if it doesn't last as long as some of the others.
