Hi all, just picked up a new 2014 4runner Trail edition with nav, will post pics shortly. Just got it yesterday so it is completely stock. I am coming from a BMW 335i so this is quite a change. In the past i have owned 3 Tundras, 2 Tacomas, and a 2005 4runner. I am all new to this forum so i have a few questions, sorry if these are repeat questions.

I want to widen the stance some, aesthetically for my taste the stance is a bit narrow. I also want to go with a more aggressive tire that is a tad larger in diameter and width and am open to changing out the rims. I prefer not to lift the truck at this time unless they make like a 3/4 or 1 inch lift(just to keep the fender well gap from looking too full) Any suggestions or pics from other with setups that are similar to what i'm looking for?

Any mods that are no brainers?

What wax do you use? I put some collinite on it but is there a better way to protect the paint? I got it in gray and lit looks like it will show scratches easier than the silver i'm used to.

Running boards. Mine did not come with em, what are the popular options for aftermarket?

BTW i paid 33,400 OTD taxes and all fees at Easley toyota in Easley, SC & they delivered it to me 4 hours away with a full tank of gas. I also got 0.9 financing for 48 months. Check them out if you are in the market for a new Toyota, they were awesome.

A question people will ask:
Does the TE have KDSS?

I use any old spray wax or detailer. It's a TE. It gets muddy and dirty. It does get hosed off every now and then though.

For tire fitment, read the link in my signature. That should answer all your tire questions. I did this chart for people like you.

No KDSS. It was a 1700 dollar option and i will never get any value out of it, around here all we have is mud and i rarely use if for off roading. I was tempted just because of the added resale value, but i passed.

I know it is too late now, but KDSS is not just for off-road use. It also improves on road handling...based on the opinions of those that have it or have reviewed it, that is why I got it. I haven't received mine yet so I'm not confirming their opinions, just putting it out there.

As for wax I like Turtle Wax Ice for ease of use. It goes on/off easy and can get on any black plastic piece without leaving discolored areas. It doesn't last all that long though. Another good one is Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant. It lasts longer than the Ice and is pretty easy to work with. My routine is Wash, Clay Bar, cleaner wax, Wolfgang (every 6 months)..then just wash and Turtle Wax Ice in between the 6 month Clay Bar/cleaner wax/Wolfgang routine.

that would have been more of a reason TO get KDSS. Congrats on your purchase that price seems almost unbelievable!

honestly, comparing the ride of the 4runner to my sport 335i was like night & day. Handling will never be comparable, just a different kind of vehicle. KDSS is a sought after option on here, must be worth the money for most.
 
To protect the paint, Optimum No Rinse, Optimum Spray wax (after washings), and Collinite 845 are your friend.

ONR is a very versatile product. And don't forget some good microfiber. The yellow ones at Costco will do fine.

Hiken, I have already applied the Collinite 845 yesterday, how often do you reapply? Autogeeks website swears by the stuff so I bought some for my previous ride. How about the interior? I have the cloth, any worthwhile spray on protectant needed?
