new member, recovering Jeep addict

hey guys. my name is David, I'm from Wisconsin and after 5 Grand Cherokees, I'm looking into purchasing a new Trail Edition. I just need to convince myself that I will survive with two less cylinders than I'm used to.

so anyway, I'll be here poking around and trying to soak up some knowledge before I make the final decision since I never in my life expected to buy a Toyota, and I have no idea what I'm doing. :shrug:

I too recently dumped my beloved jeep ( '99 4.0 i6 XJ) for a 4runner. I came to love so many things about the jeep, but it was vaporizing on the salty winter streets and keeping it going was costing a fortune. Enough was enough. I fell in love with the 2014 4runners at the auto-show, but just couldn't justify the $ for a new car so I went for a used 4th Gen V8. What a difference! A few quirks I'm still getting used to, and more than a few idiosyncrasies in need of change, but wow... it's powerful, quiet, comfortable, capable, reliable, blah blah blah... and I understand the late V6's put out plenty more power yet.
The jeep was a 4-wheeler with air-conditioning, but it 'came time to grow up, to a car that will do what we need without being a money pit. Lots more power and reliability, and WAY more comfortable for long distances.

1st step is admitting you have a problem second step is selling that problem:lol:
All kidding aside jeeps are great vehicles :iagree: Cherokees have always been packed full of goodies some of which you can't get on a 4runner trail model anyway limited might have all those extras. That being said you won't regret performance why you see so many 4runners with 200k plus with original motors still humming like new! the wife lets me drive the trail when it needs maintenance or gas haha just grab one to test drive and gut it getting on interstate see if the power difference will be to great for you to deal with.
