new member with pics and info and ?'s

i bought a 1997 sr5 3.4liter 5-speed with 136k timing belt and water pump done at 80k mint condition good paint no dents and dings clean interior only thing was the center console lid was snapped off, got it for $4,700 from an older guy who used it as a family vehicle first off since i got it about a week ago i have been like a crackhead looking at all 100+ pages on 3rd generations i have owned multiple trucks not 4runners but haven't been addicted to them like i already am with this, couple questions how do i know what gears are in it, also i bought the deckplate already to do that mod but do i need the mesh screen some how-tos i saw had it and some didn't, also i plasti-dipped my front lower valence bumper and emblems gonna paint my rims in the next couple weeks

so tell me what yall think and what should be next on my list of mods considering i am short on cash at the time

You can do the ISR mod for pretty cheap.

Ya, ok i will use proper punctuation if it bothers people. Another thing this is probably a dumb question but the plague of the pink milkshake only applies to automatic transmissions, right? Reading some threads on it got me scared.

You do not need to worry about the milkshake it is only for auto owners. I put a screen on my deckplate. I could see how you wouldn't have to have it, but I liked having it there. If the axle code on the vin sticker in the door jam says A03A you have 4.10 gears which is most manuals.

Anyways, welcome to T4R. Good looking Runner FL. I used the mesh screen just for extra safety but it's not a must as long as you have a filter in place to catch debris.

Like how the back is naked of most of those annoying emblems! Just did the same to mine recently.

Well in the first week of owning her i have already painted the undercarriage, plasti-dipped the front lower valance bumper, emblem, and license plate holder. I think i put to many coats or didn't wait long enough between coats but didn't turn out as good as i hoped only on the license plate holder though. I also cleaned the throttle body and did the deck plate mod. Next on the list is i am going to be painting the front and rear chrome bumpers with truck bed-liner and paint the grille black. As far as painting the bumpers should i remove them or tape it all off?

Then i will use the black taillight paint on all the lights excluding the headlights.

Then i will be painting my rims black.

Next with the hard stuff i will be installing a 2in lift can't decide which one yet along with some 33in tires

And last but not least a locker.
