New Member with Some Questions

I am currently looking at buying a used 4Runner. I have always wanted one but have just not really needed a SUV before now. There is a local 2004 4Runner Sport 4x4 in my area in really clean condition. It has 124k on the odometer though. I have crawled from from to back underneath this thing and haven't found a bit of rust or a single leak! They are asking just under $14k. I have checked with KBB and Nada for prices, and they say it is right in line with the price being asked. So my question is, should I be worried about the mileage on a vehicle like this? It will be my daily and I will be able to put some money into maintenance on it pretty much right off the bat if need be. I'm a NoOb here too but IMO, you cant beat Toyota reliability.. eg My Wife's 2002 Highlander has 160K on the clock, zero rust , runs and drives like new..etc.. its been worry free since we drove it off the showroom floor..
This past Saturday, I picked up a 2004 T4R with 80K... didnt hesitate regarding mileage..

I bought my 97' 4runner with 200k from the original owner almost 2 years ago and haven't had an issue yet! Its been driven to FL and Myrtle Beach from IN both within a month. It now has 217k and is going strong! I know its a 3rd gen but as stewart said can't beat Toyota reliability

Hey Stig, mileage hardly means anything on these beasts--124k is merely broken-in. While I'm not familiar with the 4th Gen pricing (I'm a 2nd Gen guy), if the price sounds reasonable, and it's every bit as good as you say it is, it's probably worth jumping on. You should check out the 4th Gen section, and maybe post your question there--those guys know them well. The biggest thing on maintenance is the timing belt--if that's up to date (you'll only know by records--you can't eyeball the wear on them), and the engine looks clean inside (check inside the oil fill cap with a flashlight for sludge, etc.--there should be nothing but a golden-black tint to the metal inside), you can take it from there.
