New member with some questions

Hey all,

I'm new to the board and new to the 4Runner world. I just bought an 89 V6 3.0 and have some Q's about it :

1- I only have a wheel lock on one side of the truck, is this normal ?

2- I'm looking for gravel guard or something like that to protect the frame, any suggestions or where can I find some ?

3- I need to do a body job on my right quarter panel and around my windshiled, any idea, suggestions on replacement, repair methods ?

4- I need a gas door, where can I get one ?

5- The side of my top (around the front windows of the top) are all rusty, any repair tips ?

More questions to come that's for sure !

1) What do you mean by wheel lock? Anti-theft lug nuts, doesn't matter. If you mean manual locking hub for 2WD/4WD, there should be one on each front wheel.

3) Someone makes replacement rear quarters, try GOOGLE.

5) Someone also makes replacement window frames, try GOOGLE for a source and how to remove them (I forget how).

4) Gas door, try a junk yard

OK, that's called a manual locking hub, not a wheel lock.

If your truck has the ADD system (may not, that may have been later than '89) it wouldn't have locking hubs at all (manual or automatic).
The previous owner must have changed one side or the other, what's on the other side?

That rear sensor is the Load Sensing Proportioning Valve (LSPV).

Any parts store should have ball joints and (I think you mean) tie rod ends (TRE's).

I searched the board and couldn't find a How-To on installing a fuel pump cut-off switch ... as an anti-theft

I just bought a front end rebuild kit from that vendor and I am installing it this weekend. My experience with the seller was pretty good. They shipped promptly and even though it came from Canada the time wasn't any longer than several other items I ordered locally.

Quality looks pretty good and I'm satisfied with it. This kit will at least put everything back in good shape so it will ride better, and if I need to in a few years I can always do it again with oem parts.

For the price of the kit you can't beat it.

I also recommend toyotafiberglass.com. They have replacement quarter panels, fenders, L-trim, tailgates, and even hoods.

When I e-mailed Corey about US prices and shipping, he got back to me right away. Keep in mind, though, that he's a one-man operation; I asked in mid-July about rear quarters, and the waiting list is into September. So if you're looking to have them soon, better to order them now.
