Hi, my name is Reanna and I am new member on here. I've owned Toyota 4x4's before and done a lot of 4wheeling in them, but not a 4 Runner. Now I'm the driver of a lifted 4 Runner with a V-6 in it. Eventually I want to go from and IFS front end to a straight axle and maybe put a bigger lift on it. As it is I have some front end work to do on it anyway sense when I bought it came with some front end issues. Do you think it's worth it to go from the IFS and go to a straight axle and do the bigger lift? I want to get some opinions of anyone that has done that or the downsides of it or benefits.

Welcome! What year is your 4runner?

I'm about to start my SAS. You have a ton of options. It is very costly though, not sure if you have any experience welding for fabricating, or have access to a fabricator to hook you up. For a good link setup, axles, gearing, lockers, driveshafts, steering, coilovers, fabrication, welding, and all the little odds and ends you're looking at $8k-10k+. It adds up quick, not to mention if you want to install a dual case setup - go ahead and add ~$3-4k onto that for the cases, adapters, install, new crossmember, 4linking your rear will require you to ditch your gas tank and use an f150 tank and relocate it, etc etc etc

Here are a few links to check out for starters:

welcome!

like downpour stated above, you have a ton of options but it can be very costly! your basic sas kit will run around $1300 +/-. then add price for the axle, rebuild and fab. i'm in the finishing stages of sasing my 3rd gen and honestly, some nights i wish i had just left it alone! it all pays off in the end but it's just alot of work to get it done and done right. but whatever you choose, you'll find a ton of good info and help here. so just take your time, do your research and enjoy the ride!!!

Welcome to the forum! Stick with ur IFS. Unless ur gonna be extreme hardcore rockcrawling, the stock suspension will be fine for 99.99% of the time. Sink ur $ into a locker, gears, and some armor. :thumb3:
