My first SUV...I'm very excited!!!

I feel like the village idiot among all of you 4Runner experts - but hoping to learn about my new ride quickly. This is also my first Toyota too

Wanted to say hello to everyone.

Recently got an '06 4WD SR5 V8. It's dark gray with some fancy name for the color. Seems like the V6 is a more sophisticated engine but I went for shear torque advantage and chose the V8.

Options included:
sunroof, 17" rims, receiver hitch, spoiler - that's what comes to mind. Seems like mechanically it's got the good options.

Unfortunately the interior is poorly optioned though - no leather, no fancy stereo, no nav, no curtain airbags, not even lights on the vanity mirrors - but it rides awesome and I got a great deal on it - so I am not disappointed.

My first mod was to pop off that tacky "V8" emblem on the grill. Surprisingly I did not have to break it .

Attached is a quick pic of what my garage contains now. The G35 is an 05 6spd with a NAV.

I read somewhere that 4Runners with 17" factory wheels have 13.3" front rotors. And that the 16" rim versions come with smaller rotors. Is that true?

It's possible to have 13.3" rotors. But because SR5 comes standard with 16" wheels, you could end up with the smaller rotor. Only the Sport Edition comes with the larger rotors for sure. The only way to be certain is to measure the rotors--something I need to check on too.

all sr5 grade comes with the smaller rotors. only the se and ltd gets the 13.3" rotors.

Congrats on the new ride and welcome to the board! You have great vehicles in your garage. If you are not happy with the base stereo, you can upgrade to a Scion headunit or even install a factory nav system. Just look through the Audio section on the board because many members here have done that mod.

All 4th gen SR5 grade comes standard with the smaller rotor size. That is the only way the 16" can fit. If your SR5 came with 17's that means it's a PIO (port installed option) which doesn't change the configuration of the rotor size.

The other two grades come standard with 13.3" rotors straight from the factory so thus the 17/18" wheel standard.

I wonder about the accuracy. It says the 18" wheels are five spokes, which they're not--it's six spokes.

SR5 standard wheel size is 16" so when a SR5 trim is rolling off the line, they'll put the smaller rotor on--even if later a 17" is mounted as an option.

I think you are right - and for my own confirmation I went and measured it my self - and it's about 12.5" or so.

had I known I may have tried to get an SE instead - but oh well - I am still happy with what I have.

hope you're not spending your weekends surfing the web - and are instead out and about in your 4Runners.
