new motor

I just go my 95 4runner back from having a new motor installed & now the tranny doesn't want to go into overdrive. From a stop it takes several miles to go into overdrive & then when it does a few miles later it downshifts by itself & will not upsift again until I stop & start again. What is wrong? Please help.

One of the many engine sensors that feed the transmission and engine control modules may not be connected.
Or a vacum line not connected/connected wrong.
