Hi everyone.
About three weeks ago I was finally able to buy my dream car after five years of planning, scrimping, and saving when I landed a pretty sweet deal on a 2018 SR5 4WD. It had about 500 miles on it when I rolled it off the lot. Now it has about 1060.
A couple days ago, I noticed a noise that hadn't been there before. Since it's a new car and hasn't developed any of those rattles/noises we've come to expect from older cars, I noticed it immediately.
The noise only happens once, right when you first start to lightly accelerate and move forward after starting the car. It doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold, it happens without fail every time you start moving after the vehicle has been off.
Best way I can describe the noise (which isn't super loud or anything), is a brief "tick" or "crrick" noise. It sounds like it's coming from somewhere in or around the steering column and not under the hood or anything like that. I'd say with 99.9% certainty it isn't an engine noise.
The first 500+ miles I drove the car, no noise. Now all of a sudden it's there.
Thoughts? I don't think it's anything to really be concerned about, I'm more so just surprised that a brand new car has a mystery noise. If it's still doing it at my first service interval, I'll ask the dealership to check it out. In the mean time I thought I'd see what you guys thought.
